94/95 5.0 in fox? Pros and cons

I found a good deal on a 95 5.0 w/ trans, harness and the basic "turn key" parts for a good deal with -70K on it. I was wondering what the pros and cons were to this rather than a fox motor? I hear the ECU is more picky but whats the real power vs power difference between the two? I plan on just basic bolt-ons such exhaust/pulleys, intake porting and maybe some nitrous on the stock block.

Thanks

if you use a fox intake, basically no big difference. I would use a handheld and use the SN puter (is it a T4M0?). the SN puter has a faster processor, real diagnostics, etc.

good luck.

I would wonder how well it would fit, the engine bays are very different. I put a fox style motor in my sn95 style engine bay and it was no cake walk. Maybe it fits the other way around. I heard the 95 computer is a little less agressive, but with the AODE tranny you're getting you need the newer computer to go with it.

Zach, I think you have it right (the SN is the tighter confines to stuff a motor, hence the revised intake, radiator and accessories to shoehorn a 5.0L in the 94-95's). Going the other way should be easier.

I missed the part where he said he is getting an AODE - so forget what I asked about the T4 puter (wont work with an automatic).

one can run stand-alone electronics (*I think*) for the auto or use a C4, etc. If one is gonna use an auto puter and run an auto but does not have the trans, a 4R trans from a later model might be wise.

with the tables i have seen, the auto puter pulls a TON of timing (and it has tip-in retard).
random thoughts. good luck.

SN = shorter accessories, bent intake, and cast pistons. Same amount of power.
Heads, cam, rockers, block, crank, mains, all the same. The lower intake doesnt have the provision for the intake temp sensor but is otherwise the same and will allow an older plenum to bolt on to it. Headers and motor mounts are also different.

I've done this a few times.. You'll have to change the upper intake, lower intake has no throttle body coolant provision, as mention, but it's cake to bypass. You CAN use the 95 timing cover and front accessories, main difference is the depth of the pulleys. Most other things are a direct swap. I personally would keep the 93 and earlier ecu, or else you'll have some rewiring to do, and the SN ecu's are junk IMHO. If you get a good deal on it, I say go for it.

Ok I think I'll clean this up a bit.

The motor/trans:
95 5.0 with everything all accessories and it comes with a T5 tranny. The whole deal has 70K on it and for the grand total of 1500.

The car:
1991 Ex four banger with 8.8 rear and five lug swap, bare engine bay with only the four banger drivers harness.

The questions:
Will this harness work with the sensors on the SN95?
Can i just buy some fox mounts and slap it in (for instance is the block itself the same like can i just buy some fox mounts and put on that block and be well)?
What headers do i buy (do i buy headers that go with fox or go with sn95?)

Id rather just keep the intake it has on there, this that the other ie just a "drop in" swap. Will this create hood clearance problems? I like the fact its got shorter accesories so I have more room to slap my fan on there.

What sort of "re-wiring" am i looking at? LIke i said this motor comes with EVERYTHING (ecu, mass, starter, tranny clutch, mounts, ect ect)

Thanks again guys sorry for the long post. If anyone has a minute on AIM/AOL im DrMaxit on there I'd like to chat. If I have to change too much ill either go carbed or find a fox donar (around here impossible, hell 89s sell for 5grand all day here).

if you just want to drop it in keep all the wiring that comes with the 95 , drop the motor in and use the 95 comuter. Using an earlier model computer will require pin relocation. Hood clearance will be more than plenty as the 95 intake is lower than the 86-93. If you do the direct swap obviously there's no re-wiring.

What about the transmission sensors, will those work with the four banger ones i have in there now? The drivers harness?

What sort of "pin relocation"?

I tried to search some of this stuff but i get off the wall bogus threads that have nothing to do with what im asking.

Thanks again.

look I have a 95 cobra motor in my 88 and I have an 89 mass air with 92 a9p computer. This car huals ass now so it works for me. The motor went right in other than that had no problems I did put a trick flow intake on it though
