I have done my 99+ calipers with that HVT or whatever red paint from autozone. I still have/had them off and wire wheeled the P!$$ outa them. They look great and I plan on doing the same to the rears.

The only thing I am worried about is that the rears are iron from the looks and may rust easier. IF that is the case I will take them to a local guy who powdercoats on the side. I have the paint and time to just clean and paint the rears for now at no extra cost so I will try that first.

I got three different cans from walmart to do mine. One was silver and a clear that might have been engine paint, cant remeber. But I did get red that I am almost sure was caliper paint. I think the cans were like 3 bux a piece.

let me upload pictures

I also had to get a wire brush after mine. They were really bad

those $15 kits look pretty good, they are also brush on instead of spray on so you dont have to mask off your whole car.

3 years ago now i sprayed mine with normal high temp red engine paint and theyve been holding up pretty well.

on my new car i plan to try out that $15 kit from walmart

I think Ill buy it tomorrow... I wanted the kit that you dont have to remove the brakes... I have to remove the wheel to retorque the spacers...so Ill paint them then.

do it man! i get alot of good comments and sometimes its one of the first things people notice about my stang but it might have something to do with the cobra R rims there wide open and all you can see is red calipers behind the rims....you can see my wheels and calipers in my cardomain link in my signature pg.3&4.....

I have polished PBR's on the front, so I wont touch those, but My back ones look like A$$.

Guess it's worth a shot for $10?
Thanks

Um...Yeah.:SNSign:

BTW......HOW do you take the Calipers off in the back?

I dont want to remove the lines, so I just want to lift the caliper, set in on a box next to the car with the line attached and pads out, and paint there.

Ive never removed them before...any tricks/tips?

I know the E-brake is hooked in there, so I dont know if there is something I need to be aware of before I start turning bolts.

Thanks

two bolts hold the rears inplace, just use an open end or cresent wrench to hold the slider pins inplace while you loosten the bolt. its hard to explane but when your down there youll see

RC ... i got this one! haha did mine over a year ago and still look great!

You gotta take ur caliper all the way off and do it right.
wire brush enough to get the loose crap, but when you get to the main part ur good.
-take them apart... the caliper is 2 pieces
-wash with DAWN with a scrubby sponge withe the wires on one side
-papertowel off and then rub with paper towel and rubbn alcohol
-then paint with the Engine block paint from wally... its way cheaper than the caliper stuff... and holds the heat fine. autozone =high prices on paint
-then thin first coat... and then get at least 3 good coats... 1 can to each caliper prolly.
-then get some good coats of clear from wally on there..

3 cans @ 3.97 is better than the $15.oo stuff
