well long story short my first day takin the mustang out from storage i burn the clutch up...dont feel cool when u try to do a burnout and ur buddies are like "pew whats that smell" but anyway, iv been looking into new clutches, but there are so many i cant figure out what would be the best for me...pretty much a stock 5.0, now i was thinking king cobra? but then i dont know if i should go with a "pucked" one...and are there pros and cons or those puck ones? any feedback on whats even a good clutch would be appreciated, just need to be pointed in the right direction :SNSign:

thank you,
Brandon

Brandon, let me preface this by saying that you will likely get 10 opinions from 10 different posters. For a street car, I like your KC idea (or even a cobra clutch would probably work well).

I also believe that there is a case when 'too much clutch is too much'. Said another way, there's no need to go overboard.

Good luck.

I'd vote king cobra for na applications I've had stock and fordmotorsport clutches my current setup has a king cobra, before the procharger, the king cobra held the best out of the others.Had a buddy with a completly stock centerforce setup and hated it he went with a king cobra. I ran drag radials at 13psi and ran a 12.79 without any slipping, but you will get all opinions.

I ran Street E.T's and ran 11.8's N/A with no slipping and 1.60.. 60 foots (Centerforce).... but like I said before what are your mods and what do u plan to do with the car?? Power etc...

For your car I would get a King Cobra or Centerforce Gold Class...I do not like the spec's...

Don't go overboard as JT said, no need to get "to much holding power"...that changes clutch grabbing characteristics and can be troublesome in stop and go traffic and your tranny.

5spdGT when did you have a Spec clutch?
Personally i have the FordMotorsport HD clutch. It has a heavy pedal, which i like personally, and it grabs very hard. I would stay with an organic clutch disc since ur basically stock.

King Cobra and HD are basically the same, except the KC has a different pressure plate so the pedal effort is lighter.

I know two people that have had the products. The Spec Stage II was to on/off, test drove it from our local drag strip:) Spec Stage I was in a 87 lx with bolt-ons...felt close to the King Cobra...but I just couldn't bring myself to get over the slight chatter it had, but hey I'm picky...
