2001 Cobra Coupe 27K, Silver with Black interior. 2nd owner adult owner. Original and unmolested. Pristine condition in the Seattle area. I am thinking about selling, what do you think it is worth? Should I wait to see if SVT closes doors?:flag:

Paid 16K for mine with 22K on it about 6 months ago. Pristene condition (always garage kept). Only mods were window tinting and 18' Momo wheels with new Goodyear F1 tires. Also got the original wheels and tires as part of the deal. There's a link with picks in my sig.

how the hell do you guys find these deals? I'm trying to buy an 01 with 20k miles on it and the guy says he's willing to "work with me" about his 22K asking price... I doubt i can get anywhere near 16K

"spyne" is like me. Wait till you find the right one. And btw I love that mineral grey cobra. Very nice!

I tend to go for the private seller in terms of SVT's. The original owners of these cars 99% of the time take the highest car of them. Usually have all paperwork, and you practically have to pry the keys from them because they loved the car so much.

My car is still under Ford ESP warranty for another year. Premium care.

Good finds are out there. Its all patience. It took me 2 weeks of serious looking. And you have to be willing to go the distance. I drove 167 miles to get my 01 Cobra. More than 300miles round trip.

yea i agree... the 01 i was referring to is 200 miles away (197 actually) and is in mint condition. It looks beautiful, he has sent me tooons of pics and he's only selling because he has to. what do you guys think a black/black is worth paying for with only 20K miles on it?

no car is "worth" the price over Kelly Blue Book but dealers are stubborn and people can be the same. I remember paying $18500 for my 96 Cobra in 01 but it was mint and owned by a girl. Now I just paid $22,000 for my new cobra but again it's in great shape and there are only 3 currently for sale in CT that I can find and that's with me looking for the last 2 months. Can't really find more than yellow Mach 1's around lately either. And if you want an 03/04 Cobra, be prepared to pay $29k and up.

Whatever you do don't trade it in. They will take you to the cleaners. There is a SVT car show in the Seattle area on April 30th I think. You can check the NW forums for more details. That might be a good opportunity to test the waters.

Good idea. I know a bunch of people who will be going there, and they would have a godo idea as to how much to ask. Google Bickford Ford in snohomish. 96SVTPilot, are you going to be there?

Here in Washington mustangs go for a small fortune... 99 cobras going for 22k, 96's for 18k :notnice:

I got my 99 3 months ago for 12.5k (87k miles) from a private seller, and i had to wait a few months and drive to eastern washington to get it.

Yes I will be there :nice: what about u? I got mine in TX so I didn't know the prices were that bad here. I can't see how anyone would get 18K for a 96, unless they are cash buyer. Banks will usually only finance up to blue book value. If you know somebody with 18K looking for a Cobra, I'll give them my keys today, LOL. :rlaugh:

Thanks for the compliment, I love the car too. It took quite a while before I found the right car. The ironic thing is that after all of my searching, I wound up buying it from an original owner who lived 6 houses up the street from me. I'd been eyeing the car ever since he bought it, but had never talked to him. One day during my searches for Cobras there it was on cars.com. Two weeks later it was mine. I also got the Ford ESP warranty as well as all of the original docs and SVT certificates.

For everyone who's still looking, it takes patience and a willingness to not settle for the first opportunity that comes your way. There is no reason to pay more than KBB or Edmunds lists the cars for in a private sale. If you do, you have over paid. There are plenty of cars out there if you are willing to wait for the right opportunity.

Bah. Where were you 4 months ago when I was in the market...:D

Luck also is key. My parents drove my Cobra a few days, and wanted one of their own. Two days later searching online we found a nice 04 with 8k miles only half an hour away (at a Chevy dealer, ironically). Lets just say that they didnt even know what a Cobra was, and offered my parents 26k on the spot. Parents went home to think about it, and went back to buy it only to find the price went up to over 30k, and the dealer said that my parents were crazy to even suggest getting the car for any less. Store manager came over and smacked the guys in the head and held the price at 26k, as it was promised to us before. So we came home with a steal of a cobra that was in better-than-stock condition.

96SVT, I will be there even if I have to catch a cab! :flag: Do you belong to any clubs around here?

/me hijacks thread

I am in the same boat with bad snake. I live in Texas and these babies are rare, especially if you want black or silver on black. I have been shopping for 4 months and watched several slip away becasue I was too stuborn on price. I finally found one (black on black) and sure I probably paid a bout 1k too much but the guy already came down 2k and he wasn't going to budge becasue these things will sell. Everytime I meantioned blue book value to a dealer or broker he just laughged and said he didn't care becasue he would sell it. and sure enough some guy from LA or OK drives down and buys it the next weekend. I actually missed one because a guy bought it the same day before I could get there. I was tired of loosing so I bought it. Long story short, It was worth it! Way worth it!

As I mentioned earlier, I was looking at a black/black 01 with only 20K miles on it for 22,000. I told him I wouldnt pay anything over KBB(which was 19,950 retail, who pays retail?) He didn't email me back for like 3 weeks. He finally did and said he's lowered his price to 20,000 now and wants me to come out to drive it and then throw a number at him. Before I decide to drive almost 4 hours to look at this thing, what do you guys suggest is a fair offer? 17k?

Sorry for the novel
