BF Goodrich DR2 vs. Nitto 555R

Okay, before people yell at me for starting a new post, Yes I did a lot of searching for this but there is so many different topics that have these tires in them for one reason or another but no comparison to my liking.

I am looking to get 315/35R17's for the rear. I can get them for around the same price range so that is not an issue.

How long will they last with normal driving?

How do they compare for dry traction?


(Just to throw this out there I plan to get a KB S/C, 3.55 or 3.27 gears, and put my 275 G-Force T/A's on the front)

from what ive heard about those tires is that if you ONLY drive them on the street and never spin then then youll be lucky to pull k miles off of them.. not heard much about the BFG's but i have some friends who have run the 555r's and love em... my friend actually has the normal 555's on his 97 240sx in a 285/35/18 and it will still spin them a little in first but i guess 300hp out of a 4 banger will do that.
 
If you go with the BFG's go with the newer drag radial. This is what I am using-Switched from the 555Rs over to BFGs...They really hook MUCH better. They will also last longer than the Nittos.
They are actually physically wider than the Nittos in the same size tire.
I'm running a 315/35/18 in the rear.
 
I haven't used the new BFG drag radials but my Nitto's outlasted my BFG's 3:1. The BFG's work way better though. It's a nasty trade off. I totally disagree with joestang98 but maybe the new BFG's are that much different. I can only tell you what I've experienced.
 
My 97 mustang has nittos on it that the previous owner installed, and man those really suck in the rain! It hydro planes sooo easy, I feel safer driving my old f-150 in a storm, with A/Ts. I picked up a nail in the front driver side, and got it replaced with a kumho(sp), I cant tell a diffrence yet, but every one has told me they are better, and thats what I'll slowly be converting my nittos too. Also with the nittos you cant rotate them diagonally only front to back, so they wont last as long, and my kumho doenst say anything about that. Do your BFGs say the same thing about rotatting?

you have the regular nittos he is taking about the drag radial nittos.

the kuhmo is not a drag radial he is looking to compare drag radials. and if you have the same kunhos I have then you can't rotate side to side only front to back. you can tell if your kumhos are directional but looking at the sideway. if it has a arrow that says "direction" then you can't do a side to side rotate.

now back to the topic.

I have no experiance with the newer BFG DR's but from what I have seen the BFG's hook better but the nittos last longer.

Bingo....
All the stangs around here hook up better with BFGs but if you need a DR that lasts at least 10k on the street get the nittos as they will last a little longer...I heard they new M/T DRs are even worst than the BFGs
