If you look close you can see the other piece of the axle (with the splines on it) still inside the spidergears

do you feel proud for that cause I would

kinda sorta! lol I guess it is better for it to happen now than on a far away race. If It had a happened at Reynolds I would have been very disapointed for sure.

I knew I'd need to upgrade at some point, but I was expecting it to hold up thru a season instead of breaking on the 7th pass for sure.

Holy ****ing hell. What kind of power are you putting down?

Not real sure but according to my best times and mph it should be well over 300 to the tires. And drag radial's at that!!!:nice:

The question now is, do I just throw in another set of stock axles, or upgrade and buy some HD 31 or 33 spline ones. Then the other question is do I go ahead and go with C-clip eliminators or go with the 9" axle ends? Hopefully it will rain alot this summer! why you ask? Because the more the grass grows the better parts I can afford, as I cut grass on the side! lol

That is nothing to worry about. A little JB Weld and some electrical tape(must be blue tape) and that will be better then new.

As much as it sucks that you broke an axel you have to see the bragging right in the fact that your car broke it in the first place

I totally agree! :D You know its totally funny, When I first started out in the later model mustangs (at first I was a 65-66 mustang man) in 1993 I jumped straight from a SROD in my 1982 GT to a T-5 then to a C-4 automatic, and from a stock 82 GT engine to a 1991 GT engine with 20,000 miles on it, on to a 460 big block.....The point being I missed out on a lot of learning experiences with stock axles, stock parts breakage. During the 82GT to later model car swap I also upgraded to a 9" rearend from moser (in that old car) and missed all the inbetween parts, combos etc. And with this car I'm kinda back to basics, and the best part is thru digital photography get to share all of this with you guys here at stangnet, especially all the newbie fox body mustang owners.....that is a kewl deal in itself. Kinda re-learning all the items I missed and getting to share it too. How cool is that?:SNSign: :SNSign: :SNSign:
Thanks
Ben

Your supposed to tell me when you run better times...

The 1/8th time looks really good, definately mid to lower 12s, but the mph seems low. I have been 7.94 but trapped 85.8. Car must have hooked well on those passes...

Definately time to upgrade. You got me worried too, I make a little less power, but run slicks on my stock rear. Been strong for 5 years now, but you never know. Thank god I have a 31 spline rear, with 4.10s basically waiting for me.

if you get 31 or 33 you have to upgrade the diff obviously and that can get to like 500 bucks for a good one...but if your on a budget like me...get the moser 28 and rebuild the trac lok.....that s what i did im putting down 340 to the ground and on top now spraying 75 without the dyno it feels like it has at least that much more power and torque and the rear has held up...ill let you know if it holds up to the 100 and 125!

Some stock axles last, some don't.....

I would upgrade and use a 9" end, worth it to avoid c-clip leaks... Check the bearings really well, and take it all apart and get it all clean, any particels will take out the bearings and ruin the new axles as well. It is a PIA to get it all clean but the last thing you want to do is hurt more parts.
