Hey.

I'll keep this nice and short and sweet.

I bought 17 inch chrome saleen replicas from www.crossroadzdirect.com
who, up until this point i was very happy with.

Now, my driver's side wheel is completely peeling off. There isn't a scratch, a ding, a mark, NOTHING on the wheel, and the entire inner portion of chrome is coming off.

The rims have been on my car from April 05 to October 05 (7 months)

I sent them an email
and have called which resulted in a voicemail because no one would answer the phone.
It has been just over 7 business days and they have yet to contact me.

I am posting this message so others will know the dangers you face when you spend over $1000 on chrome rims. Beware! SOME companies do not stand behind their products and you should know which ones don't.

This is my bad experience and I hope you benefit from it.

did you pressure wash the wheels?

Crossroads has been great the 2 times I used them. Also they don't make the wheel so hate the manufacturer. As to the customer service, it IS an internet based company, and it is also one of those times of the year people go visit thier families. I know it sounds like I'm making excuses for them, but it took me a bit of work to get in touch with them and I was very satisfied with the end result.

Pressure wash a mustang? are you mad?
No i don't pressure wash anything by the sidings of my house.

and unfortunately you're right, it was a manufacturing error, unfortunately dante design doesn't have a direct line to contact and because they [crossroadzdirect.com] supply their stuff, ultimately they are the ones that should be talking to their manufacturer about it. I don't know of any other company that doesn't stand behind the people they supply. it's just good business.

i was satisfied with them too, like i said. their shipping was spot on, their prices, reasonable.
but at this point it feels as though i'm being dodged, and if i don't feel comfortable when i spend $1000 + with a company, i think other people should be aware of it.

a turnaround time for contact isn't a month when a chrome wheel is peeling from an obvious manufacturing defect.
and i'll have the documentation to prove it in 48 business hours.

(edited for clarity.)

I had a bad experience with them and will not buy from them. I tried to order a Baer brake kit from them. 3+ weeks go by with out a word on whats going on with my order so I sent emails, no responce, try and call to see what is up. called them at least 5 times, got no answer, finally I waited and waited on hold for more than 10 mins before someone picked up just to find out that they could't get that kit anymore. They said they sent me emails which I never received. :notnice:

bakos: Thanks for posting that up man, I appreciate that.
That sucks that you got the run around and the fact that they couldn't bother informing you of what was going on. I had the same phone call issue. I was on hold for an easy 10 minutes. Finally a machine answered because 'no one was available'

you've now got someone along with you who won't deal with them again.

like I said, don't think I'm bashing you. Bad crap happens, just was posting that I had 2 good experiances with them. As a ray of hope that maybe you will get things worked out.

I've had this happen on 2 sets of chrome wheels. One a set of aftermarket wheels for the mustang and another from OEM Lexus wheels. Both peeled/chipped around the edge of the wheel causing slow leaks in the tire pressure. I just chalked it up as chrome sucks and i'll stick to painted or polished wheels. Sorry about the crappy CS, some people are just slow?

no i realize that, and i appreciate the optimism. I really do. I definitely don't look for a reason to post something negative about a company. I think it just comes down to my frustration that, there's always great customer service when you're spending the cash, but none when an issue or problem happens.
I hope they decide to help me out, but I know companies, family owned or not, and it always boils down the to the almighty $

It seems like that, slow or non-existant. only time unfortunately will tell on that side. See and what gets me confused is that there isn't a friggin mark on the rim, it's touchless, but still it's flaking off like no tomorrow. I'm just looking for after-purchase company support. I know bad things happen, but you need someone in your corner when it does.

you guys are making me think twice about getting chrome :(

It's not a nice thread, there's no doubt.
I just like to think that for every one negative post about something there are 10 people who've had good experiences and don't post because things are going so well.
it's only those who are aggitated who usually voice out.

LIKE ME! :fuss:

haha

get your chrome saleen's from wheelreplica's.

like 620 shipped for a set of 9/10" chrome saleen rims. no problems with 2 sets of them now. same size diameter as original center caps too if you want them.

gl with your issue caldwell.

Is it just me or do alot of replica chrome rims peal? I have had a bad experience with chrome replicas pealing. At any rate I hope I have a better experience with these OE ones.

See this is what's weird for me. I heard the opposite! Where the OE wheels were unreliable, and the reps were the rims of higher quality. Now I don't know what to believe. :rlaugh:

Be certain on one thing though, chrome peels regardless of who puts it on, granted my rim was just crappy, resulting in the problem i have 7 months after purchasing.
but at least with oe wheels, you'll have a company that will back you up in the circumstance that your rim COULD peel.

me with my replicas? I'm s.o.l.

The owner at the time is no longer the owner - that's part of the problem I think. He sold the business part way through last year. The owner when you purchased them is a great guy. He sold tons of my Stainless bumper Inserts. Great place to deal with.

The manufacture should take care of you ....

I recently had one of my centercaps on my Boyds start to loose the Name "Boyd-coddington". Greg Coddington said to send them back and he will swap them out for their new engraved centercaps (no charge). THAT is service.

true, very very true.
but let's keep in mind, boyd > crossroadzdirect
boyd coddington is an incredible company to work with, that's why they have their name. customer service is a1.

i've tried to contact dante design but i have no idea what their webpage is, their info, nothing.
that's why i was caught and was relying on crossroadz to get me covered.

but that's interesting that you brought that up, see i didn't know that there is a new owner to the company.
in which case the bozo knows nothing about public support.

WOuld it be possable to take the rim to a crome shop and have it dipped? That way if these guys dont back you up, you wont have to buy a new rim. And sorry to hear that man.
Not too long ago, I ordered some CC plates from a web site (forget name)...2 weeks later NOTHING, and their # had been dissconected lol. Come to find out the company hadnt been active for 6 months, yet they still charged my card for the CC plates!
So I told steeda (who supplied the CC plates to them) and they gave me them for the $219 the rip off site was chargeing( retail for $249). Thats customer service :nice: (BTW Credit card CO got my money back)
