What's some of your guys take on supercharging an engine with 65,000 on it. I'm looking at the 360-380 rwhp range.. mongoose kit.. With a good tune like the one from mph should i still expect to see normal engine life? This is a daily driver.. in the summer time atleast.. and i dont regularily hammer on it 24/7 just when i head up to the local meets on the weekends. Thoughts?

The tune is what prevents detonation. Many people have used the tune from MPH, with no complants. You should be fine as long as you check the AFR with the dyno afterwards.

You could also check your compression, make sure the numbers are within spec. If you keep it under 400WHP and monitor the AFR, it should work out.

Yea, that seems to be the general consensus, my local shop has a mustang dyno and does wideband.. so i'm defintely going to stay out of the boost untill i get my a/f checked. + i'm getting a/f and boost guages... I'm just hoping the extra stress on the internals doesn't lead to a premature failure down the road. I just want some power but safe power. I wish ford built these gt engines with forged internals

65k is nothing on these motors. Unless it was abused you will be fine. I put mine on at 85k and I've had no problems 20k later.

Yep, I put mine on at about 50,000 and it's fine as wine. The tune will save you from spreading the liquid metal internals all over the place.

I'll let you know... I just turned 70K on my 7 year old pony. Until recently I was only putting 8000 miles a year at most... now I doing 36000 a year and each day is a death race (I hate to use the term... knock on wood) on a long trip to work and back. Sometimes you just gotta go where the job is.

I get all sorts of cars that play with me each day...

Mustangs rule... all the others drool...

(from my teenaged daughter)

I been thinking the same about the miles..But if you have it tunned and low psi blower you sould be fine form what I have heard. To me if you take care of the car and have it tuned there really shouldnt be any problems..

Just make sure your car has no underlying issue that might pose a threat down the line when going forced induction . I push my car hard , in certain occasions I even run a 75 shot of N20 just for fun . No problems so far ( Knock on wood )

Is that 376hp with the shot? And that's at the wheels...?

That is at the wheels with out the shot . It is a automatic too.

So then, you make 376hp at the wheels with just the KB SC? Any other performance upgrades? Intercooler? 9psi? I'm asking cause I'm 35 hp behind you stock and trying to benchmark my install numbers. If I could make close to that at the wheels I would be very happy. I'm hoping for at least 300hp at the wheels.

I may consider a shot later...

do you blown guys change your oil more often? and do you run full synthetic? i think you would be fine for the normal life of the engine. i believe its all in how you maintain the vehicle. if you do regularly scheduled maintenance you will be fine. considering you get a good safe tune. Tim at MPH, if thats where your going will not put a tune on there that will hurt you. he's conservative, but very good.
