2000 mustang dissapointing

I'm with scupking, my 01 GT auto will break loose if you hammer it on the interstate. It has to get really wild for the traction control to kick in. It was dry and hadn't rained in days here recently and we were merging on the interstate. From 40 I hammered it and it downshifted and burned the rear tires with the tc on so it's possible. My only mods are a cai and a Borla Cat-back.

autos 4.10 all the way,i to have 97 with 4.10 and love them i think but from 3.73,200-400 rpm difference no big deal

No WAY would i do gears in an auto again. I had 4.10s on my 98 GT Auto. and i didn't even feel a difference. And long highway drives would heat the hell out of the trans. You need a stall with 4.10s in an auto or something.

I really would never do that again. But i'd never own another auto either :)

And for a daily drive i think 4.10s are overkill personaly. I'm going with 3.73s. i do a lot of highway driving. Hell i'm even thinking about some 3.55s

It could have something to do with the tire. Different types could trip it easier. Not sure. I know on the 96-99 SHO's the electronic suspension will react differently to different tires and sizes. More cushy sidewall make it hard to get it into sport mode. A firmer lower profile tire will result in sport mode engaged more frequently.

Could be the same effect...not sure though.

i havent raced him yet.but its not just the low end that felt sluggish i took it to 3000 rpms than floor it and it felt weaker than my car so i know there has to be something wrong with it. btw, whats seafoam??and where do i get it from?where do i put it on??sorry for being noob. his just waiting to get his 305 nittos and hes gonna come to my house to do the tune up.im a do everything on it.thanks for the advice:nice:

um, there's two things here. You have gears, and he has a vert. And power can be deceptive. His car makes power over a wider rpm range, so while it might not feel faster than a stock-geared non-pi version, it is, because it pulls longer.

Also, if his tires are better, he is going to have more traction, and they won't spin as easy. I think the real difference is your gears and his few hundred pounds extra weight. Your gears make it far easier to burn the tires than his stock gears regardless of tire width, and his extra weight makes it harder to light them up. His car only makes maybe 45 hp more than yours, while weighing ~250lbs. heavier, on stock gears.

No, his is a vert and mine is a vert also.his is a auto mine too.we basically have the same car except body style.the only difference his is completely stock( i cleaned his maf, put on a k&n filter, took out the silencer and worked better than before but still feels weak).i have 40 series flos, msd wires, new plugs, clean maff, new oil,and 3.73s.i keep my car topnotch maintance wise.while he in the other hand doesnt, hopefully after the tune up.new oil, plugs, filter, and sea foam can fix it.oh and i have 90% new 275 40 17s and can burn em.he has 40-50% 245 45 17s and can barely or not chirp em.my friend has a 94 cobra and he said it feels weaker than my car and a lot weaker than his. damn steeda is taking forever to deliver the tires.thats what were waiting for.once he gets the tires were going to do everything and ill report back. BTW, he ordered 18x9 saleen wheels for the front and 18x10s for the back with 265 45 18s and 305 35 18s.:nice: well laterz

Your seriously on crack if you felt no difference going from stock gears to 4.10s. I seriously hate some people like you that say crap like that on the forums. You must have lost all sense of reality to not feel anything.

:rlaugh: well this was a semi-revived post.

And no, i didn't feel a difference with the 3.27 to 4.10 gear switch in my 98 GT auto. God i hate automatics. But anyway, the only time i "felt" a difference was when someone would try and pull on me from a stop, i could see i was putting ground on them much faster than without the gears. But honestly, no. I didn't feel much of a differance at all. Other than the car being louder all the time from the higher RPMs, which was awesome :nice:

Sorry if you dont believe it but whatever. Auto cars suck and you can't even DRIVE the car in an auto, the car drives for you. So no, i didn't feel a difference. I would never get another auto stang and i would not get gears in an auto either. I'm sure once i get these 3.73s installed in my MANUAL 02 GT, i will feel the differance :nice: can't wait!!

ANy little bit of wheelspin kicks my T/C on and basically kills the car.

I remember i was racing some civic once and forgot to turn T/C off. When i hit 2nd, the T/C kicked on and i thought i blew up the car because i had it floored and the nose dropped like i hit the brakes.

With the T/C off i can chirp 2nd and third pretty hard with a stock 5-spd. Best i've gone is 14.1 bone stock

i noticed the 4.10s i put in my auto WAY more than the 3.73 that my uncle but in his 5 speed, and yes i drive both cars alot

Now you're just talking crazy talk :rlaugh:
Are both cars the same body style years? Because if the tranmissions are different, that might be another reason why.

Maybe i should add in that i dont beat on my cars  maybe thats why i didnt feel the difference?
Or maybe i'll stick with my original statement: Automatics are lame :p

Only thing 4.10s are good for in my auto is running from a dig...if I can get any traction. It sucks when accelerating from a roll and sucks gasoline even more. 4.10s w/KB was fun at first until I started losing in the 1/4 because I couldn't get any traction and ran out of top end gear.

I have 3.55s sitting here in my room now..

why would u put 4.10s on a car that u dont beat a lot???i put 3.73s on my auto 97 and i did feel a difference.if autos suck so much how come the some of the fastest drag racers run powerglides and C4s???the only stick tranny i would change my auto for is a t56.i have nothing against stick i like stick its just pisses me off when stick guys talk **** about autos.especially when the 4r70w is stronger than the t45 or t3650( i heard).like i said before i like stick cars but if ur gonna talk crap about autos, i have to defend my auto.
