i have been realizing that my car is a bit of a pain to drive around. hitting bumps, shifting not smooth becasue i cant drive it allot and no CD player. just to name some things. my girlfriend has a really nice i think its a 99ish grand am ram air GT. proms today and yesterday she was getting her nails done so she let me take it out bymyself to get gas and money from her family they owed me and run errands basicaly, i enjoyed myself, i could talk on my phone, listen to CD's, and the stock system is great, with the built in 7 band EQ i was havin a good amount of fun. not as much as launching the stang, but i think it would be nice to have some kind of automatic pontiac or maxima to chill around in. what do you all think, anyone having a hard time facing this truth?

i have considered getting another car. but its hard to part with the stang, sucks to much money and its hard to think about how bored i would be, i would be empty and have nothing to do.

i graduate in a month and i know its only going to get harder and harder to work on the stang, i will make it faster and the faster it gets, the less practical. I need a good DD and i think the stang will become more and more of a side car.

I did it. I didn't want to keep racking up miles on the stang and sometimes it would get tempermental with idling and such. Some other little things would piss me off too. I got myself a nice beater and never regretted it once. Now I drive the stang about 3 days a week and its a blast to drive everytime. Having a second car has made me love my stang even more.

I was faced with the same dilemma. So i went out and bought a 2003 Mustang GT.

Now i can wrench on my 5.0 and make it however i want and not worry. Then i just hop in the new Mustang with ice cold A/C, leather, nice stereo and still have fun.

I have three "extra" cars. We have a 94 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 89 Corolla, and an 83 Ranger pickup. The Jeep is the baby wagon, the Corolla is back and forth to work, and the ranger is dump run/moving work horse. If you can afford it "extra" cars are handy :nice:

My wife and I have 3 cars total - 2 DD's and the Mustang. I only drive the Stang during the summer when there is no threat of rain. I want my Stang to stay in top condition for a long time. It's hard to keep a DD as clean as I want my Stang to be.

long story so here i go. my first car was a 89GT. after i graduated high school i went through the same dilema..i wanted a practicall car with leather, A/C, auto... so i sold the stang and bought a 92 caprice (fully loaded) i love the car and still have it. then i joined the Navy saved up some $$ and bought a 2003 BMW 325i. then guess what i bought a 88 GT..that i work on now. i currently have 3 cars now and love each one mutually. I love pounding the **** out off the stang, take long cruises in the caprice, and love the handling and luxury of the BMW. ohh so the moral of my story is.....keep the stang, park it for a little bit and get a DD...BUT DONT SELL YOU WILL REGRET!!!! i know you dont wanna now. but dont even think about it!! haha  :nonono: :nono:

meh.. i'm getting a truck lol mustangs going to get moved on the back burner for when theres no rain, not alot of traffic, and im not being stupid :D i just dont want to kill myself lol

my wife and I have a 2001 VW golf and a 2001 shyt box (daewoo nubira that I can't find a f'n air filter for) as our DD's. I just got the mustang back from california (over a year) and it has many parts to be put on so it is just a weekend car for now. soon the wheels will be off and I will be wrenching away on my 5 lug conversion.

I've been looking for a second car. There's a lot of parts sitting in my shop since my car is a DD I can't just rip into it and put my new cam in or anything like that without wondering if I'm going to run into problems and taking longer than a day. If it takes longer than a day, I would basically have to walk home. But mostly I want a second car so I can pull my 5.0 and rebuild it.

Thats why I bought my tundra last august, I had only driven mustangs my whole life.
Fits 5 people comfortably, ok on gas mileage, I can tow a boat or my cobra, use the bed for hauling around parts or stuff for the house, cold a/c, perfect driveability, lots of ground clearence, and the final thing its quiet.

Nothing makes your appreciate your 5.0 more than buying a daily driver. You don't have to worry about having your car up and running every day for work and whatnot. It becomes a toy, a very fast toy. I picked up my Volvo 850 turbo for 2 grand and its been the best speed part I've bought for my mustang yet ::banana::

I was in the same boat as you. My 5.0 doesnt have A/C, heat, or defrosters, the pass window doesnt work, it leaks oil and coolant and I could go on and on. So I went ahead and bought a second car; a Mach 1. If I had to do it all over again, I would have bought a pos early 90's car. Cause now with gas being over 3/gallon, and me wanting a faster car, I spend my money like it grows on trees. If you buy a second car, buy a beater. Just my 2 cents

I want a DD so bad. I love the stang, but I need something I can get in and drive however far and not worry about it. So the plan is, keep the stang and get a DD. I don't know what to get, but I guess it doesn't matter right now b/c I have no money for one, ha
