If you have aluminum heads with stud mounts I would run stud mount rockers....much better IMO.

Can you change stud mount head over to ped mount? I would say yes, I know you can change ped mount to stud mount. Machine shops can do the work.

some heads they will work with others they wont. edelbrock and afr both make heads that work specifically with stock type pedistal rockers, they also make heads to work with studs.........

the stud size is usually larger than the stock rocker bolts, and also i think the heads are made in a way where the pedistals are a certain height on pedistal heads vs stud heads.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you can convert pedestal mounts to stud mount.

One way is to use Comp Cams conversion studs, 5/16 thread on the bottom for the head and 3/8 above for the rocker.

Another way is to drill and tap the heads for 3/8 or 7/16 studs. This is best done by a machine shop. Typically, they also mill the pedestals down about 1/4 in, so the rockers don't end up too high. This was more important with older, shorter valve setups.

If you have heads with 3/8 threaded holes for studs, I don't think you can easily use 5/16 bolt down pedestal type rockers. Also, the rocker boss is most likely about 1/4 in too low to mount the pedestal at the correct height, per the above.
