I'm not sure if they still make them or not, but a Cosworth Escort. Unique, easy to modify, fast, and AWD. I think there is a member on here from Canada who has a Cossie with lots of mods.

NEW cars, folks! NEW ones! And a daily driver, at that ... all four seasons, grocery store runs and all.

Of course, if we're talking old-school rides, then I'd change my vote to a '69 Mustang Boss 429, but that's a whole other deal...

The thing that got me thinking about the new cars, though, was flipping through the pages of a recent issue of Consumer Reports, I noticed that just about every single car that's worth having (well ... within realistic limits, of course) falls right between $20k and $30k, most being right in the middle of the two. For example, a 2006 Mustang GT goes for about $25k right now, and not only will it spank a vast majority of the stuff on the road right now, but it costs less than a lot of those, and it's easier to live with on a day-to-day basis. On the other hand, a brand-new Pontiac GTO costs more, doesn't quite pull the same numbers (even with 400 horses ... mainly because it's an overweight pig), doesn't ride as well ... and, well, and it's dying off after this year, anyway. :)
