I've seen a few STS threads crop up now and then and they always seem riddled with a bunch of doubt that the system could even work well, probably due to how unconventional it is. Personally, I have loved the idea since I found out it was actually in production (I actually thought of it myself but of course somebody has done it ). It's a relatively popular turbo system that actually mounts the turbos directly into the exhaust system - under the car. No custom headers, no relocations, no tight engine bay issues, all with an even cooler air charge than usual.
Common misconception: Turbo lag. Turbo lag is the result of a poorly designed system or a large turbo, generally, but the extra piping resulting from the unusual placement in these rear turbo setups does not create some massive wall of turbo lag. The difference is minimal. It does not take a lot of time for the "extra" air to pressurize - considering how fast the turbine actually spins. You can hear this and see this in their numerous videos online.

Anyways, being a turbo fan in the car world, I was hoping STS might consider the pre-05 crowd. It's a large base of enthusiasts, no doubt, and it would fill the hole we have for turbos. Really, our only options for turbos involve very extensive installs and typically involve new internals (I speak mainly for HP Twin Turbo at this point). But those obviously aren't for everybody.
I sent STS an email about it
To which I got this response:
This was very encouraging to me. I love the idea, and wanted to see what opinions you guys had about it. And if it's well recieved, the BEST way to have a company follow through on something is to show interest, by way of contact. Easiest way -> Email: [email protected] A quick message does wonders, and it could really make the difference.
What do you guys think?

Dear STS Turbo,
I was wondering if your company has considered previous generation Mustangs for an STS Turbo kit. I ask this because it seems like such a gigantic market with hardly any turbo applications due to the mounting issues involved. But since STS is rear mounted, this would be a real hit, especially with the ease of installation and no need of custom headers. For comparison, the most popular turbo kit for the Mustang is the HP Twin Turbo which starts at $6400 and up, but it is also a very involved and difficult installation. The next down is a kit by ProTurboKits at $5000, but that does not include a very expensive suspension change that is needed. A rear turbo setup, if possible, seems natural for this car. I was wondering if any thought has been made about a kit for these cars.

I agree it would be a real hit. Hopefully we have something out by the end of the year. Keep an eye on our site. Thanks
