Hi, ive been reading about exhaust for my 2000 v6 for about a month now....some days i read articles saying that a 2.5 inch system is too big, and you will loose power and other days i hear it is good....i also hear that a 2.25 inch system is good..
My options as of now are to buy a friend of mines old exhuast off his gt....it is a 2.5 magnaflow stainless steel with 3.5 inch tips. I also can go for the stock gt take offs which are 2.25 inch. I will be able to get either system for $120, so what do you think?

It all depends on what you are going for. If you want the best possible for a mostly stock V6 that you plan on just a filter/intake and exhaust, then the GT take off will probably serve it's purpose. But if you plan on having more mods or you want a louder, deeper sound, the magnaflows will work best. In all honesty, you're talking a few ft-lbs of torque movement, it's not lost, it's just moved up the rpm scale. I have basically the GT take off, and the sound sometimes leaves alot to be desired volume wise and doesn't have as good of an idle rumble.

Personally I would only go with 2.5" if You were planning on a Power adder like a SC or Nitrous down the road. Thats when the bigger exhaust will really benefit you, otherwise its a waste to lose that little bit of extra torque down low.
