My friend and I are purchasing new tires and rims for our 94 mustangs. Will the following rim and tire sizes work? For the front tires should I buy 245/40's or 245/45's? Thanks in advance

315/35/ZR17 Sumitomo HTR Z with 17x10.5
245/40ZR17 Sumitomo HTR Z with 17x9

275/40WR17 Sumitomo HTR Z II with 17x9
245/40WR17 Sumitomo HTR Z II with 17x9

Why not put 275/40's on 9s will fit the front also. I have 17x9.5s (275/40's) up front and 17x11s (315/35s) in the rear and the car, when measured from the fenderwell to the ground is - rear = 26.5"s and front =25.875"s (basically slammed). Now, I do have the MM coilovers with the sport valving that has 400lbs up front and 250lbs in the rear - so it's pretty stiff which helps keep the tires from rubbing.

We had a whole thread about this man.. do a little research..

That said, don't go anything under 45s in front or you'll have no rims protection.
I went with 245/45 in front on 17x9 rim and it's streched out.. Some don't like the look, I think it's okay but there's 0 rim protection.

Here's a pic of it :

If it were me, I'd just go with 275's all around on a 9" rim, but if you don't want to go that wide on the front, I'd suggest either a 255/40 or 255/45 (not much difference, mainly price and availability), that way you'll get a little bit more rim protection and it deffinetly will not rub.

with 9" rims, i wouldn't do anything but 255-265 up front. anything more or less doesn't fit correctly and will either wear wrong or drive poorly or both. on a 17" rim, i'd go for 255/45s, or 265/40s

on the back with 9" rims, you can go up to 285s. mine have been on for 2 1/2 years and they are still going strong.

i think 10.5" with 315s on the back are killer, and more than a few have them so they must be ok

compare your sumis to the toyo proxes t1-r ... i love mine :nice:

You want some kind of wheel protection so,I wouldn't go any
smaller than 255's. 255's in the front and 275's in the back sounds
good. :nice:

thats what im runnin'. 275s in the front seem to stick out a little much for my taste. i like them in the back but i like my 255s in the front ( on a 17 x 9s )

:nice:

315/35/17 on what rear wheel as some some said before it depends ont he back spacing.. if its what i think your going with as a 95 cobra r wheel with a 17x 10.5" in the rear the 315/35/17 will fit fine.. and as for 245/45/17 up fron on a 9" wheel not a good idea.. go 275/40/17 front and 315/35/17 rear

:OT: If I can manage to:
1 - Help the old man open up our in ground pool
2 - Build a fire wood holding box
3 - Help my buddy chainsaw a fallen tree apart
4 - Spend some time with the GF
5 - Get some chrome lug nuts

Then I'm going to detail the car and take some pics.
