Air charge temperature sensor

Today I took out my old air charge temp sensor form the lower intake manifold, and it wasnt looking to good. There is grease and buildup all over the sensor part of the unit, and the mechanisim itself is not looking too good, here are a few example pictures

The thing that concerns me the most is the fact that this is what the incoming air going into the engine looks like, which leads me to believe that there may be a problem with the engine. If anyone has any ideas as to the problem or if this is something that is normal please tell me, thanks for the help

** edit** sorry for the weird title, for some reason it posted while i was in the middle of typing it in

Looks pretty normal to me. That is what mine looked like when I pulled it out. I to was a little freaked out when I pulled mine and that is what it looked like but pretty much everyone I talked to said it looked pretty normal. One thing to remember is that the sensor has been in there for the past 13 years so its gonna get kinda nasty.

Ewww...Mine doesnt look anything like that. I can still see the little node on the end of the sensor wire, it was completely clean. Although my ACT is relocated to the airbox because of the GT-40 lower intake (no hole for the ACT).
