SASKATOON
So I'm driving today (about 2 hours ago) to go from my g/f's place to my friends place... do-do-do driving good cause I don't want to mess up my new paint and body work. And coming from the left at the intersection I was approaching I see an ambulance with it's lights flashing... I slow down as to not get in it's way... then WHAM!!!! I am rear ended. I turn the corner and pull over... then up behind me comes this little Cobalt thing, and this little kid comes out and starts being all sad and like "man, I just couldn't stop." and he's blabbering on. I don't say anything cause I'm just in shock. I get his info and then I take a look at the back of my car... my new bumper (not punctured) but the paint is missing on alot of it. And my tailpipe is almost now side exhaust. I'm not in a happy mood. :notnice:

This sucks!!!I just get my car back and a few weeks later another accident. I han't had one for 9 years now 3 in two years!!!

But I think that his insurance pays for it and not me (cause it's his fault)... so I might try to get a new catback or something... are the stock mufflers welded on, like a one piece unit? or are they like clamped so the tailpipes can be replaced??
I hope it's a one piece so I can get some mufflers as well (I have aftermarket tips so they can't just get one tailpipe)

Dude, that sucks! I hate stupid drivers.
I hope everything gets resolved with your car.

The other day some old grandma forgot she was driving, and almost rolled into me in my mothers subaru..

Too bad I wasnt in the mustang, I need some ugly road rash stuff cleaned up on my front bumper. Woulda let her hit me :)

Yeah... I'm going to take it to work tomorrow and see what the exhaust is like under there... I know I need the bumper repainted and re-vinyled... it'd be nice to get an upgrade though. Maybe I'll give the exhaust a "hand" near the muffler if it's a two piece and a little bit on the passenger side too... I'll see how I feel in the morning. Even though I like the exhaust sound now I'm sure I'd like some dynomax superturbo's or something a little more.

My day wasn't a complete loss though. I bought one of those $20.00 CAI's off of ebay (cause it was only $20.00) and on the weekend I might spend some time and do the cam swap... (I finally went to ford to find out which was the bank 1 and bank 2 cams... I was embarased but not as embarassed as if I installed them on the wrong side!!)

Feel for ya man. I've been hit before and it's a royal pain in the ass.

Hope your insurance doesn't give you any crap.

Most important thing is that you came out unscathed, cars can be fixed

Good luck.

Dont feel too bad man.

A freind of mine bought a 98 V-6 Mustang, and figured out it had been in a fender bender shortly after he bought it.

Well, it was all good for a while untill his head gaskets blew out. Car is down for a few weeks while he is doing the work, gets it back together and it runs perfect. The NIGHT he got it running he took it out for a drive and had a large deer run out infront of his car. He hit it head on, didnt kill the deer somehow, but it took a number on his car. Ends up he needs a new drivers side fender, hood, drivers side headlight assembly, and a bumper cover. That sucked, but it gets worse. About a week or two after that I am driving to work and see his car sitting in the middle of a highway with its flashers on. I slow down as im going by and I was looking at the car when I noticed I saw a driveshaft laying on the ground under it. Ends up the tranny self destructed, ripped the DS out and all that good stuff.

So within a few weeks he blew his head gaskets, damaged most of the front end from a deer, and needed a new tranny and some misc. parts.

wow... thats pretty bad.... I dont' feel as bad now...

I found out a little more about my own situation though..

The kid who hit me gave a fake name and address (he said he didnt' have his info on him ) and the plates that I wrote down (he was standing in front of them) were regestered for a lady a few towns away... so this is getting interesting...

I also got my car up on the hoist at work today.. and a good thing I did... the tailpipe was rubbing on the tire, just barely, but enough.

The insurance company doesn't have anything to look under cars so I told my adjuster that I was taking it to a performance exhaust shop to get it inspected. He was happy with that, so I think I might come out happy with the results of this accident as well. I go in tomorrow after work and then it's going to my buddies shop for the exhaust quote right after... I think I'll get them to price out a dynomax superturbo 2.5 catback system, with some mean 3.5" tips. But I'll just have to see tomorrow... I hope this goes okay.

I'll let you all know tomorrow.

And the CAI is in the mail!!!!!!
POWA IS COMIN MY WAY!!! lol....

Your car is ORANGE. Jesus Christ. The color must have some sort of magnetism coming off of it.

Anyway, that's why they always tell you to keep a safe distance between yourself and the person in front of you.

You should have bludgeoned him to near death and flagged down the ambulance.

well I got back from the insurance place today... not too bad... they said $700 for the repair to the bumper... now comes the story
New paragraph needed...
Now is the kicker... .$225 for a new tailpipe, muffler and labour is what they said. I went the my local exhaust shop and they couldn't even touch that price... the cheapest for a replacement tailpipe (without muffler) was $430. I do have the same shop working with me who got the value of the car almost doubled so I'm not too worried, and the adjuster seemed like he was into sports/muscle (and such) cars, So I think I might be safe getting a catback... I'm trying to convince the bodyshop that I need a new catback cause the custom exhaust I have right now can't be duplicated and I don't want two different sides. I think it will all go well though....
I can get a catback from Jegs or something for a decent price so I might talk to the adjuster about doing that... It'll end up being cheaper they what they want to do.

I guess I'll have to wait (well I have to anyways for the other little kid to get his ticket and all that)... but I don't want to... dragging the tailpipe and muffler on the ground isn't too pleasant .

Good thing you dont live in a state like MN which puts you at partial fault just for being involved in an accident. Another great scam supported by the theifs....er...insurance companies...in order to get more money from us. My dad was on jury duty for a case that involved a parked car being hit and the rest of the jury said that person should be 20% at fault just for having their car there, parked, in a parking spot. My dad said F no. Common sense is lacking these days, luckily it doesn't sound like you're going to have to deal with that.
