I am looking into a new short block for my 96 GT.DSS and VT have what I need, but never bought a hp short block before.DSS (www.dssracing.com)price is $3699.00 for a grade 10 super mod block that should handel 750hp.VT (www.vtengines.com)price is $3999.00 for about the same block but with manley rods and diamond pistons and rings,it should also handel 750hp.Any pros or cons from these set-ups or companies.Any info would be great!:nice:

Do a search on DSS modular builds on corral, m0dulardepot and here. You wont like what you find.
+1 I completely agree with you I have heard some horrible stories about
their short blocks quality and their service from folks years ago right here
on Stangnet. On the other hand VT is very reputable and they are we'll
known for great quality short blocks and excellent customer service.
I would go with VT no question.:nice:

+2 you won't like the service when you are ordering let alone afterwards....

You may also want to check out MMR (Modual Mustang Racing)....
MMR 4.6 Street Mod 900 $2800... call and talk to Chris... that is who i set my block up with...Excellent communication and not nearly as swampped as VT.

VT ENGINES ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!! You may have to wait a little, but they make a very good product. I have only heard 1 complaint on them (local guys valvetrain issue) but VT QUICKLY fixed it and did it for free from what I heard. Awsome customer service.

And like I told one of the few of us who knew about it, "NOONE can make a 100% perfect product 100% of the time". But when they fix their VERY rare problems with out hesitation....thats the sort of company you want to deal with.

VT is on the very top of my list. :flag:

FWIW the guys at VT are awesome. I thoughly believe that they have the highest quality motors on the market right now. There is a reason they are backed up on waiting times.

I am running the same components in my new motor that they run in their Sportsman block. Any issues I have were completely taken care of and fast.

If my new motor lets go VT is getting my money for sure.

Thanks guys I have talk with both companies and they were really nice and helpfull.I think my option is with VT now that the help I got from all of you.The wait time for the bolck I will be getting is 10 weeks. Thanks a bunch.:nice:

Damn..you guys are almost making me blush. ....LOL!

Thanks for the kind words, it really does mean alot. I'm trying to find more manpower...but we just don't hire any joe-blow that thinks they can screw an engine together. I hate having such a long waiting list...but it's a long list for a reason. :nice:
