Magnaflow catback fitment issue...?

Everyone,
Last night after work I finally got around to installing my Magnaflow catback. I already have a catted Magnaflow X on it. Anyway, the passenger side pipes went on without issue. The driver's side however was a different story. The head pipe and muffler seemed OK, however no matter how I adjusted the tail pipe, it would hit the swaybar when the rear end was pulled down as if going over a bump. If I pulled the muffler rearward and pulled a little more pipe out of the rear of the muffler, this would put the tailpipe too close to the gas tank. Anyone have a problem with the Magnaflow tailpipes hiting the rear sway bar? We must have spent 2 hours tightening and loosening the system to make it fit without success. Now when I drive down the road and go through an intersection or bump, I hear and feel the swaybar hit the driver's side tail pipe.

On top of that, the driver's side tip had to be taken off, and material ground out of the slot to make enough room to tighten it down to hold tight on the tailpipe. I think I am going to give Magnaflow a call this morning and see if this has been an issue.

I had/have the same issue with the driver's side tailpipe hitting the swaybar. I pulled out the tailpipe and muffler as far out as it goes and it just barely misses hitting the swaybar. I've heard a lot of people running into this issue.

I had the same issue with the driver side tip not tightening down onto the pipe. Id adjust it, tighten it down, and drive it around to find that the tip would move right back. I just had it spot welded to the pipe.

Thanks for the responses. I called Magnaflow and got the 'this is one of our best selling systems and we haven't heard of this issue as of yet."

The problem I have with this is my choices are either let it hit the sway bar, or let it hit the gas tank shield. Neither of which I like.

In all the pictures I have seen, the tailpipes are one solid piece. My passenger tailpipe came to me as two pieces that were welded together. I am a little dissapointed with this system. Sounds great though.

I had the same issue and had the muffler shop put a little ding in my exhaust pipe to stop the contact with the sway bar, I have heard of other people adjusting it out by starting at the exhaust manifold and working back.

I played the tip gets loose and tighten it game as well. I'd guess Magnaflow is aware of the tip issue, rarely do you find someone who has paks that don't have to consistently tighten their tips. Like someone else suggested, weld. Also, my tail pipe was in 2 pieces.

I have also had the same problem with my Magnaflow catback, the traditional one (with the mufflers). It bangs against the gas tank on the drivers side when I go over a bump or take a turn too fast and it sounds horrible, I hate it. I use to have the Magnapack catback and did not have any problems, never heard it make a peep. Im going to try adjusting mine with a friend, but doesnt sound like that will do much good from others responses.

I don't have any clearance issues with mine.

The only problem I have is the long rod that attaches to the tip (and goes into the rubber hanger) does not stay tight and it rattles against the tip sometimes.

Mine had clearance issues with the swaybar as well. I had it "bent" to help a little. It now only hits whenever I drive over a large bump or pothole.

I'm considering replacing it with something louder like Borla Stingers.

Really I never heard of anyone having a fitment problem with the
Magnaflow catback??
I always hear about how good they fit.

I have the MagnaPack Catback and I paid $80 for an exhaust shop to do the install (on my lowered car). They said it was a pain to install them and they had to do a little adjustments (bending or something) to get them to fit correctly. I love them and it was their problem not mine. Just my $0.02...

Mine did the same thing since the day I installed it. I was disappointed because everybody raved about how good the quality was for these systems. My old flowmaster system on my old car fit better than this does. They said they wouldn't do anything about it because I had different mufflers welded in. I finally got an exhaust shop to dent the pipe and "most" of the banging has gone away. I've thought about just scrapping the whole system and getting something else.

I was totally impressed by the fit of mine. The tip hangers do come loose at times though. No biggy. Takes two seconds to retighten while I wash the car. I love the system.

Those 3 1/2" tips look bigger in person than they do in a picture.
Guys does the Magnaflow Magnapack catback require any welding
on any part of the catback? I understand that you can weld the
tips on instead of bolting them on if you want to.
