Tonights UFC Fight outcome????

Royce did we he has always did to the "145lb man". You look at it differently. Royce has never been the aggressor. Look at the match again. He protects himself and looks for the submission. That is what he was doing at that fight. Don't take aggressiveness from the "145lb man" and say Royce had his handsful. Royce is also much older now...Prime vs. Prime, Royce would have the victory in a better fashion.

UFC is right there with Pride. Will never know until they fight each other at a present time for both fighters. Not comparing 10 years ago to tomorrow.

Pride is based in the eastern area (japan)...market is different. Can't compare that to UFC in America. Bad comparison.

Trash talking is just what you have seen on commercials...it's all in the marketing and was is decided to be displayed. Only a few know the real story...

Matt has always been pretty humble and controlled with his talk.

Elbows do more than open cuts, get hit with one and see and feel.

I have been hit with more than elbows lol. Knees and stomps finish fights, alot of the damage done by elbows in the UFC is cosmetic, sure it might hurt but it's not a FIGHT ender. Fights stopped from cuts when somebody can continue is POINTLESS.

Royce has never been an aggressor? Thats because his takedowns suck and he has always resorted to pulling gaurd and looking for submissions off of his back for the most part. Torkoro tooled him, if there had been judges, he he would have lost, period. Royce was the man when nobody else knew the game, now the sport has evolved past him. There are plenty of guys that implement BJJ in MMA, Hughes basically used wrestling and BJJ to control Royce. Go figure. Look at Carlos Newton vs Hughes both times, if he didnt have a chance, Royce sure as hell wasnt gonna have one.

I suggest you check out www.sherdog.com or www.mma.tv if you wanna debate mma. UFC has the CHANCE to sign some top level guys but would rather put money into the TUF fighters that save for a few, arent that great and wouldnt have made it in the UFC anyway. Check some of the mma rankings out there, the UFC belt in Heavyweight and Lightheavy weight isnt even considered being number 2 or 3 in the world most of the time.

Their welterweigh division is the best overall in the world though, the talent is DEEP there.

I think Speeds8erM-1 hates Royce Gracie for personal reasons........there's only one way to solve this issue. UFC 62: Gracie vs. Speeds8erM-1 :D

jk, man :jester:

If the money is right, I have been choked out before, triangle choke = some sheeet! :D I actually dont hate Royce and Im a very big BJJ advocate but he just had no chance, he isnt fighting Gerald Gerdou, Keith Hackney, Kimo and Ken Shamrock back when nobody knew anything. If Royce had won, it would have set the sport back and thats not what mma needs right now. I would cheer for Royce against alot of people though. I just dont like how the UFC tried to hype em up for the casual fans when they knew he would lose.

UFC brings in former big name fighters to put the new guys over all the time. Mir vs Tank, Cabbage vs Tank, Shamrock vs Tito, even way back years ago they brought back Dan Severn to fight Pedro Rizzo.

Oh well, I like MMA, Pride is top level, UFC is what got me started as a fan, just wish they would do a few things different and they COULD be the top MMA company in the world. I remember on the mma boards a couple years ago "UFC doesnt pay well because it's not profitable for Zuffa, they dont make any money off of the UFC" well they are damn sure making the $$$$$ now! I would love to see fans that cater to mma instead of booing when it hits the ground. It's a sport, like boxing, just more complete as far as fighting.

I think they should go back to the tournament style in UFC......it's turning into boxing for God's sake.

This is what happens when the $$$ starts rolling in. They change to what will bring in the most money....not for the sake of the sport. This applies to all sports not just UFC and Boxing (which is fixed anymore) Football and baseball are turning into a game of $$. Any good football team from the 70's would beat the ones of today to a bloody mess...

I'm new to MMA, but I know my football. NO 70's team would win over today's. The sport has become much more advanced. Talk to any old time player and they will admit it. Offense's espcially, are way to advanced for a 70's defense.

ESPN says the 85 Bears are the greatest team ever:hail2:

It's called safety and keeping it that much closer to sane. Lots of debate gets brought up about "controlled fighting" anyways, so why keep pushing the envelope to ban it, or atleast be considered.

I've seen an elbow or two end a fight.

You need to watch some of his old fights when he was in his prime. For his size, his takedowns were near the top in rank. See some of the bigger guys he fought "back in the day". Again, you would need to watch some of his videos.

I'm not talking about now, prime of Royce. Your just beating a dead horse with the Hughes and Gracie fight. Most knew the actual outcome.

Been there, read that.

I'm quite confident that the UFC commissioners and "big boys" know what they are doing and why they are doing it, more than you.

Noone said UFC has the toughest guys. So what is your point?

Yep.

Yep.

Hate to tell you but I have seen almost every UFC save for a few of the mid 20's. Royce's take downs have never been good, decent when fighting some guys that KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE GROUND GAME. Any college wrestler could have taken down most of those TMA (thats traditional martial arts) guys with ease. They might have been big but they were clueless and he DID have to resort to pulling guard OFTEN and thats still what he does. His take downs arent strong enough for todays game and playing off your back with somebody that trains to throw BOMBS from the gaurd wont work. Royce gets alot of attention but his brother Renzo has done and adapted way better to mma than Royce yet you ask the casual fan who got into UFC after watching TUF and they dunno who Renzo is.

Royce is the man, a very nice guy and one of the best people to learn BJJ from in the world, nobody is disputing that.

As far as elbows go, yea, they can end a fight but there would be alot more finishes on the ground and less stalling if they were throwing knees and stomps. The UFC lay em against the fence and dry hump em and throw short elbows for a cut stoppage gets old and half those guys couldnt pull that off in a ring instead of a cage. The more traditional vale tudo way is more exciting. Safety if a big factor, well, nobody has ever died in Pride or any other event that allows knees on the ground.

Funny, if the UFC knows more than me, (I hope they fugging do or they will be out of business tomorrow!) than they know even more than you. :flag:

Somebody on here said "UFC has better fighters", other than the welterweight division that is ABSURD if considering the depth at 185, 205 and heavyweight and the average mma rankings dont reflect this either, neither do the pay scales.

They know more than me and you easy. Let them make the decisions. No matter what you say, it isn't going to change their business practices. They seem to be doing alright.

You can always start a petition...

They listen to people because some stuff has been mentioned on message boards and they listened. Dana and company troll the boards. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they dont. All I know is MMA is about to get a bit bigger, WFA, K1 is trying to steal some of Pride's guys, the Strike Force card this weekend is gonna be badass.

Vitor vs Oveerm II!
