HELP!!!!

I installed steeda x2 ball joints, steeda bumpsteer kit, and tokico shocks/struts all at the same time.. it handles great. no noise after install. now about a week and a half later, when i turn the wheel, it sounds horrific. like this medal grinding/squeaking sound. i greased the ball joints at install. was i supposed to grease the tie rod ends too?? it didnt say in the instructions. i am supposed to be driving from beaumont back to corpus tonight... is it safe??? thanks guys.

I think it is the steering rack bushings.

Maximum Motorsports has some real nice ones; urethane, delrin, and aluminum. The harder the bushing the harshier and noisier it will be.

I just made a thread about installing the MM urethane bushings a few weeks ago. Steering rack bushings are a very easy install.

Put the car up on jackstands and grab the front wheels and see if they have any play in any direction.

i dont think its the rack bushings cause it didnt start making this noise untill after i put the the adjustable tie rod ends on there....

Inspect all the suspension components. Spray loads of silicone spray all over all the bushings and stuff.

Could it be the power steering pump?

How is the power steering fluid level?

i sprayed everything down with silicone... still here the metal grinding. i can pretty much tell the grind/squeaking is coming from the tie rod ends... i put grease on the outside. still have noise... should i take them off and reinstall them and put grease on the inside of that joint (dont know the term)???

are these supposed to be greased???

Four-Six

Just to clarify for our Steeda rod ends(see my pic below) do not require any maintaince other than peroidically wiping off road grim...Thats the beauty of Heim joint. A any lubricate you put on them will only attrack more road grim and dirt and girt..again..maintaince free joint.(if you do insist on lubing them make sure to wipe them off well)

Billfisher is correct some Heim joints have grease fittings...but not the ones on my or yours if they are the one from Steeda...just keep them wiped off.

I circled the area on my swaybar where I sometimes get a bit of rubbing, but as you can tell my rubbing is from the sidewall of the tire, so its not metal on metal.
