You are looking at a 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible. When I purchased the car I was told that this is a dealer equipped A Code GT. It carries all of the GT options except for the front disc brakes. The car was restored by my father and I in 1995. The car was bead blasted to bare medal with any body panels that needed replacing replaced. There was little to no bondo used on this car and it had a base/clear paint of Ford Vintage Burgundy put on. The interior was freshened up with black Pony upholstery and is still in excellent condition, along with a new black convertible top (and Boot) which is also in excellent condition. Most all of the chrome is original with the exception of the bumpers that where pitted to bad to bring back to life, so they were replaced along with some other misc. pitted chrome parts. The 289 engine was rebuilt and all of the drive train gone through as well. It still to this day is a very strong running engine with plenty of power. I am not certain of the exact mileage on the car when the engine was rebuilt, but I would say that it has less than 10,000 miles over the years, with the oil changed regularly and garage kept under my ownership. The engine starts smooth every time. Last year I installed long tube headers and a complete stainless exhaust system with a cross over and dual Flowmaster mufflers that exit out of the GT trumpets out of the rear valance. I also purchased a new battery, Edelbrock carburetor, Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition and Flame Thrower coil. The wheels and tires are new as of two years ago with very little use. The rims are limited edition 16” aluminum Edelbrock 454 series polished to chrome, and have that muscle car feel. As of a month ago I went through all the brakes, installing all new shoes and wheel cylinders front and rear.
This car is a complete eye catcher, I can not drive across town without being stopped and told how beautiful this car is. It has been mostly a weekend cruising car but has been taken on a few long trips as well. I would not be afraid to drive this car a long distance, in fact that is when this car truly is the best driving down the highway with the top down, this car is a blast to drive! The car has some imperfections as consistent with a 40 year old car. This is not a show quality car but one of the nicest you will find driving around on the street.
I am going to try to give you all the details I possibly can about this car. There are a few dings and marks on the car from storage over the years and normal driving, which I have pictured below. Right now the car has the factory(original) coil and leaf springs in it and they have sagged over the years. I have put in coil expanders and air shocks in the rear to raise it for clearance, but this would be easily remedied with the purchase of new leafs and coils. I could have easily done this myself but there are so many different springs to choose from to adjust the height of the car that I thought I would leave that decision up to the new owner. There are dents in the fender lips of both rear quarters that occurred in the process of rolling the inner fender lips, these are pictured below as well. The original AM radio does not work and I have never replaced it because of the fact that I would rather cruise and listen to the purr of the exhaust than the radio. When I got it out this last week the gas gage did not work, but I am looking into that as it has always work in the past. The factory windshield has a small chip and a wiper mark in the glass. I think that I have listed everything but if you have any other question please ask. Asking $17,000 and I am located in norther Iowa.
