hey guys i was looking at Torque Thrust II wheels on my 1967 mustang. everybody runs 17 Torque Thrust II and i would really like to run 18". maybe 18x7" or 8" up front and at least a 18x9" in the rear. anybody know if this can be done or have any pics.

Can it be done, or should it be done...
There is absolutely no performance gain from a 18" wheel.
The car will actually be slower from the increased unsprung weight.

I guess I'm different then the guys above, takes all kinds. I personally don't like the "DUB" look but I do like large wheels if it's done correctly.
To answer you question can it be done, well anything can be done with enough money. However, I think if you really measure you can put 18's on without modifing the car (not counting rolling the fenders). Going with a 9" in the rear may be tough. Just thought I would share a picture from Mustangs and Fords with a fastback rolling on 18's with no mods in the front. The rear of the car has been seriously modified to fit the size of wheel he used in this case but like I said, I think you could use a smaller wheel without modifing your body. Check it out:

hey i dont like the rolling on dubs look either on these classic mustangs but i dont think 18 inch wheels are big enough to give the stang a rolling on dubs look. and like XXBULLETSXX said large wheel look good when done right. i dont know about u guys but i ilke that stang on the picture he posted. if u wanna see rolling on dubs look trough the treads, somebody posted a pic of a stang on 22". now thats just f***** wrong!

The Official term DuB's refers to wheels 20" and above. Its only the blue hairs who refer to anything above 15" and 16" on a Mustang as DUBS.

I translate the term "DuBs" to mean "wheels that are too large." Some people think that a wheel isn't too big until you can't drive the car....others think anything bigger than needed for best handling is too large. Just differing opinions. IMO, that black fastback looks like a roller skate.

Blue hairs? And you're how old?

Agreed, but if you go back and look at his context he wasn't specifically referring to those wheels, just the trend as a whole.

i persoanlly think that black fastback is as nice is one could look. I hate it when poeple knock the guys running 17",18" or bigger becuase they think thier 14X7 cragars are the hot ticket. 18" wheels are not necessarily gonna make your car slower, there are plenty of 18" wheels that weight as much or less then 17" wheels. Im sure the world would be a better place if we all used 15" magnums.

Don't get me wrong, I like all sorts of wheel combinations 15's, 17's, 18's, etc. I think it's more the setup of the car and if it looks right with the wheels on it. I personally hate lots of wheel well showing, you know the 4X4 look. I personally think thats why some larger wheel set ups look better because you keep a lot of your ride height but fill the wheel wells with wheel and tire.
How I decided to go with 17's and a slight lower to the car I feel looks a lot better then my old setup...you guys be the judge:

Wow big difference for the better IMO:nice: . I think its more to due with angle of pics, but just that one change makes a huge difference in the overall appearance of the car. If the pics weren't side by side I would swear you made more changes.

Beautiful car dude. It all has to do with proportions. Those same 17's that are my limit for 65-66 will look like 16's on a 69-73 because the car will be bigger. You just gotta hunt for pics and see what you like best.

I agree with 2bav8. Even though 67-68 is bigger and has more clearance, I would still go with 17" max. Although it's your car and anything you do, just make sure you like it cause we won't be driving it.
