In 03 and 04, I could have bought a Cobra at 28k, new. Now I see they are still asking 28-32k used on ebay. Are these cars really selling for this, is it an ebay thing, or are people just wishful thinking?

Back then I thought I would wait an buy a used one cheaper in a couple of years.

you can find them for less then 30k. the good, unmolested ones sell for higher though. usually 27ish + for those.

hell, i waited around for an unmolested one. then i molested it after a couple weeks. (pulley). however, now that ive had the car, and seen them modified. i wouldnt hesistate to buy one pullied, if the tune is quality, and some other mods/maintance is done too.

anyway, expect to pay 25k and up for a quality car. i paid 23k for mine with 11k miles, bone stock. the rest of the cobra's around me (in washington) have sold for 28k and 33k.

Well, they were high 28s, after discounts and xplan - which at first no dealer would honor, but towards the end, I had 2 that would do it, but they were both red - I prefer silver.

Many cars do this, I think. Many people are able to get them for MSRP, then turn around a year or 2 later and use MSRP as the selling base price for a low-mileage car. I just thought that with so many savy cobra buyers, that the car would depreciate from the price they paid, not the msrp - guess that's not right. :(

I would do the same thing, I guess :)

I take all that back. I WAS looking at the asking prices on ebay, not what they actually sold for. Looks like they have dropped quite a bit (time to start talking to the wife!).

If you do a search for completed auctions (you need to be logged in for this): http://motors.search-completed.ebay...sacat=-100&sadis=500&sofindtype=22&sofocus=pf

...out of the top 20 or so that I looked at, all but 2 had not met a reserve of 29ish (even at LOW miles) and the 2 that did were convertibles and sold for 26,500 and 27,500 - one coupe sold for 21,000. Even a mystichrome coupe with 2k miles only hit 30,099.

Being the last Blown SVT made, asking 28K-31K is not unreasonable for a 12 second car.

My Bro is selling his for $29K & is a INSANE deal.

Mustangs in most people mind is worth nothing I guess...................

I've noticed that the cobras 03-04 that are forsale have 20-30K miles and are selling for 25-28K. My buddy just bought a bone stock 04 Coupe 4000 miles bone stock from a dealer OTD the door 32K with over a year of factory warranty left.

Guys, Ive seen this before. The 86 and especially 87 Grand National were sold from the factory floor and snapped up in 1987. They were awesome performers with great times from the factory. People saw they could get into the 13, and 12's with minor mods. Same thing with the 03-04's and their better times.
I think prices will continue to stay above normal because of the factory performance and the better performance you can get with little additions.
I had a GN and hope to have an 04 Cobra within a year and a half. (I got a plan...)

You really need to split the 03/04 cobra sales into 2 categories. Unmodified and Modified. If your looking for an unmodified car with low miles, there isn't alot out there at the prices you see pullied cars selling for. There are exceptions, but being so easy to mod these cars, I have a hard time believing that a stock car for sale was never pullied.

So my Snake is a minority huh? Wonder if I can get some special considerations from the government... :D

Just bought an black 03 vert on ebay from a guy in Florida, 4900 miles & no mods paid 26100$. The deal went smooth as silk & my wife & I got to drive it back to NY. There was also a year left on the warranty which made the deal a little more reasuring as it needs rack bushings. The first thing I am doing is seending out an oil scan so if there are any underlying problems Ford can fix them for me. When ever buying a used car an oil scan of the engine & tranny are a good piece of insurance. Apparently there are quite a few 03's out there still under warranty which is a nice little bonus so I can go through the car with a fine tooth come while it is still covered. As a side note I trade in an white 04 vert w/6500 miles to a dealer last year & got 30k plus the tax since it was a trade for another car. I still regret haveing done that but I am very happy w/the black & less miles. Keep in mind w/the Shelby going for so much money it will keep the values up on the 03/04's. Good luck & happy hunting.

I have a 03 Cobra in the family that has a shifter only. Just because you can mod a car for more power does not mean you have to do it.

Funny how people can never get enough HP when the speed limit is only 60 MPH

You would think Cobra's with low production numbers would sell for more not less...........

Proves a point, Mustangs are a waste of money !
