i think it does help a little in wet weather. but if you drive without your foot to the floor, there shouldnt be much use for it.

i leave it off in dry weather. who needs trac control anyway? my 92 never needed it :D
 
Ok because I think it's useless in the rain. I drive without my foot on the floor, I average almost 19 mpg in town in my car so i don't beat on it. It just does nothing when for me when it rains.
 
just slows the wheels down, in theory i guess it helps. it feels like it does a little. i think it helps with tail slide too, so if the tires are spinning alot, theres zero traction so the back end can slide real easy. but if the wheels are being slowed down then they have a better chance of catching traction.

i could just be full of chit talking about that too. all i know is, when the tires slide in the rain, and trac is on, that little green wheel lights up in my dash, telling me something is going on :D
 
Not totally useless. In the dry weather, its just annoying on those times I forgot to turn it off. WHen wet, I leave it on. When its wet I'll drive like a grandma...but sometimes I'll hit some water or give it just a hair too much gas and I'm glad that traction control cut the throttle for me. Maybe its cuz I have stock Gatorbacks that are half bald.
 
In the snow, you're not moving a freakin inch. Rain, helps a little, will use the abs first, if ur spinnin real bad, like, if any of you have forgotten to turn it off, then try to burnout or race.....lol.....im sure you know what im talkin bout, it retards the ignition and cuts the gas. I leave it on when it's raining, I rather like it for that. Snow, I dont drive my car in teh snow period, and dont take the chance of driving if there's a remote possibility of snow, just dont bother.

I think it's nice to have....especially for rain, in all seriousness, my '83 capri....i actually get stuck with it, steep enough hill and a stop sign...and i can get into trouble, it's pathetic lol.

Agreed! I hate it. It is so much easier to drive the Mustang through the snow w/o the TC on. It just gets in the way. If you really know how to drive a rear-wheel drive car in the car in snow, you use the gas and tire slippage to help steer the car. I have my TC turned off with my Predator, and it will never be turned back on.
 
I leave it on almost all the time. Most of the time my GT would never spin its tires from a complete stop anyway. It was an auto, so that's probably why. It would really take off though. :D

I think I'm going to be looking into an '04 5 speed GT soon. I'm waiting for my dealer to find one with under 20k miles that's in good shape.
 
Well, the manual specifically says to turn it off in snow so if you're leaving it on in the snow... well... it's not the TCS's fault.

I left it on last time I was at the track (road course) and I saw the light come on a couple of times but didn't actually feel it intervening. Whether I needed it or not I don't know but if it was doing something and not interfering with me or my lap times, why would I turn it off?
 
I agree with the folks that are saying on dry/rainy roads it helps some to control wheel spin. Of course if wheel spin is what I was looking for in the first place I turn it off. My experience with several cars with traction control is in snow it's likely to get you killed. My company car will come to a complete stop in snow which is friggin great in the middle of an intersection trying to pull out into traffic !
