so i get to work this morning and see a group of people gathered around a guy's car who is a porter here. i notice the white number on the side and front and start walking over. ive talked to this guy before about his mods and such just so i can laugh on the inside. he's got a riced out 92ish acura integra. CAI, ricer exhaust, header, pullies, and various other little mods to compliment the 17" wheels/tires (HUUUUGE on that car), slammed body w/ kit and altezzas. so i start asking him about his times and he doesnt wanna tell me. all he kept saying is "i have my girl's tires on there and i couldnt hook up". anyway, i finally get him to show me his best timeslip. heres what i can remember of it
60'----2.56x
1000'--13.9xx
1/4----16.6xx
trap----84.xx

obviously this was his first time to the track b/c he was disappointed in his times. once he goes a few more times and realizes his car really is that slow, he'll start bragging about it.
so then he starts telling me all about his brother's roomate's civic SI that runs 12s, and all the other cars that went to the track with him. i was like "cool, i gotta get to work now"

i raced a kid at the track with like this 89 civic hatch and he was crazy ran around the car and slapped all 4 windows before he got in. Had the computer on the passenger side floor board with wires all over and when he got in he put on a helmet.

This was his slip:
R/T: .948
60': 2.779
1/4: 20.651
Trap: 64.27

Now if you have to beat your car all out for a whole 1/4 mile and only get to 64 then you should take it right to the junk yard

And WTF he was wearing a helmet in there:shrug:

The new Malibus run 15.4s...that poor car would get pwned. One of my buddies sold his 67 coupe and has so far spent 6k on his 92 Civic, Integra motor, 3 wings, stupid muffler, Altezzas, and I pwned him in a V6 Lumina :D He thinks its fast, heck, he says it'll beat my 66 with a built 5.0 in it. Every time he tells me that, I smile and say "or course, i cant push that fast" LOL (no motor in the stang yet)

I beat some kid in a riced out Cavalier with my 4.0L Explorer today. Didn't stop him from doing a ricer fly by afterwards though. :nonono:

SUV kills are teh best. I used to run the ricers in my Jeep before I lifted it... suprised quite a few of them.

no way i dont believe it:p

i had a 95 4.0 v6 eddie bauer and it was the slowest piece ive ever seen
you have to wait until you can see like 4 miles down the road if you want to pass:rlaugh:
Ahhhh young grasshopper, but I've got an '01, 2-door Sport with the 210hp 4.0L SOHC and 5-speed auto. It's not the tired old 160hp, 4.0L OHV, 4-speed auto, 4-door tank your Eddie Bauer was. It's actually pretty nimble on it's feet when it wants to be.

Yea the SOHC 4.0's with 4.10's in the rear is actually pretty fun to drive for an suv. I like throwing it in 4x4 auto and launching...

But the OHV 4.0 with the 4 speed is alot more interstate freindly... Its got alot more low end also, I like the engine even though its weaksauce power wise.

Yeah, I'll give you that, the OHV still has a hair more grunt right at the bottom end, but that advantage seems to be lost after about the first 30ft and the show is all but over for the old OHV once the tack sees about 4,000RPM. The SOHC a little softer on the bottom end (won't spin them from a dead stop), but I like the fact that mine pulls hard and consistent all the way to red line, which is more than I can say for the old 4.0L OHV I had in either of my '94 Rangers.

As far as being interstate friendly....my Sport runs right along 2,100RPM at 110km/h with the 255/70/16's on it. If I'm careful, I'll get about 600km to a tank (about 65L) highway, which seems to be about 50-70km or so more than my buddy is getting with his '95 4-door. Not only that, but under light throttle around town the 5R55E 5-speed auto skip shifts and acts just like the 4-speed A4LD it replaced to save on fuel. Only under heavier or WOT do all 5-speeds make themselves apparent.....which is where you want it considering the looooong drawn out 2-3 shift the old A4LD was famous for.

No need to shove the pedal down and drop 2-gears climbing hills like you needed to with the old model. With the additional 50hp and nearly seamless downshift my Sport takes modest inclines with ease.

I'm waiting to see what kind of bolt-on's they'll have available for the new base Mustang, since it shares the same engine as my Explorer. I'm not looking to really start screwing it, but the though of a set of under drive pulleys and an electric fan conversion to free up some power and improve gas mileage some has come to mind. ;)

…..I love hijacking threads. :D

Hahaha, thats quite a testament right there.

There are a few parts available for them now. There is a video on Streefire of a supercharged Sport Trac I think, or Explorer... think it was the Sport Trac, but either way its the SOHC 4.0. It was pretty impressive.

Yeah, It's the X-Charger kit sold through Explorer Express . I was looking at the kit for mine, but at $3,995.00, it's far more money than I'm willing to spend. Looks like it would be a blast though. :D

I have a '97 Explorer, mint, got it from a friend for 3500, with a brand new tranny in it ( He liked to floor it from a stop, allllll the time). I love it, although it's the 4.0 OHV engine, I kinda like the torque, no way I would complain, the gearing is awesome, perfectly fitting for the engines torque curve...I dunno, I love it, put the big nice guard in the front and the bug guard and rain guards, tinted, and it's white with the stock crome wheels. Only complaint is the rear suspension, by design, every bump is like rocking a boat...lol.

Anyways I actually beat a few ricers off the line....but, above 60mph no way i'm beating anything, it's too big and heavy, although I do put it on cruise control at 100 mph, all the time, but only on this one road......but I use the road everyday so....lol i'm a safe person but just, well everyone speeds there, 100 foot of grass on each side of teh road, and no turns evar!

I had some riced out civic hb in front of me at a Green light, yeah he wasnt paying attention, i laid on the horn for like a minute till he realized, he got pissed at me and drove slow around the turn, he thought he was so coooooooool and had to show his buddy he can 'roll' race and pull away from me. well he got owned cause i was gaining on him in my Explorer
