So why would you want this annoying a$$ sound coming from your phone?? not at all directed towards you synned but my thought was they wanted to be like hey someones calling me look how cool I am. And even if it is ringing its not like you can answer it in the middle of class anyway. seems kind of pointless to me.

Tested everyone.
Me 38- heard it even at low volume, and it's very annoying
Wife 37-could only hear it when close to the computer and turned up
8yr old-heard it from across the room even at low volume.
13yr old-heard it and immediately plugged ears

34 and heard it and it was really annoying and now my ears itch!!!!
