I am considering building a 4v motor for my GT. Are there any differences in the 4.6 cobra engine blocks from year to year? I know the heads & cams changed in '99, but I never heard anything about the block.

The 03/04's come with a cast iron block. You'd be better off with one of the aluminum Teskid blocks from previous years.

U.M.

The 96-98's had Aluminum Teksid blocks and are considered some of the strongest Aluminum blocks holding well over 1000hp...Some 99's and 01's also had them but most of them got WAP aluminum blocks...

The Teksids are also found in the 93-98 Mark 8's also...

Is there an easy way to tell which block is in the car? Do you think someone at ford would know with the VIN? I am currently looking at a 99 Cobra and it would be great if it was the Teskid. How much power can the WAP aluminum block handle?
