Alright so i have been reading about the cams out for the S197s for a little while now and i want to know what are the drawbacks for getting cams installed on the mustang? i mean the stage II cams from BBK make the car sound pretty much like a marine engine on steroids. I love that gargling sound like its an old el camino idling by. Someone please explain what installation is like, how much it would be to get installed by someone at a shop. and what kind of future engine problems may arise due to this modification

I was thinking of doing these mods: JLT + Brenspeed tune ($600)
U/D Pullies($300 installed)
Corsa Axlebacks ($600)
Total= 1500$

Now im considering (i know its more money) but what about a JLT+ Brenspeed tune with Stage II BBK Cams(1200 plus installation? correct me here)

Total= $1600+

see i love the sound from these cams and i like the idea of giving the engine some more power, but its strictly a street machine and NO racing is being done. Just looking for some advice boys

Thanks, Sy

:drool: thats the first i have seen them officially for sale. i wonder if they are in stock????

*checks wallet*

i guess it does not matter for me at the moment. :(

yeah ive seen numerous videos of stage 1 and 2 cams and from what i have heard the stage 2 cams sound MEANNNNNNNNN. how violent would that be in the cabin for the occupants?

and theres another one floating around of a yellow Gt that i just cant find which makes me mad. but o well you get the idea. Stage II BBk cams sound pretty amazing on these cars. but how much work must they be to install my gosh. and would heads need to be replaced?

Power Numbers?

Do we have any idea what kind of power gains they give us yet? Also I know its a good idea to port and polish with mods like this, but do you have to or can you just through these in a stock head? Just searching for that magic 350-360hp to the ground N/A. thanks as always :SNSign:

That BBR vid is cool, there sounds like alot of tapping noise going on under the hood though, sounds like something is getting ready to break.

ohh goodboy, thats exactly what i was looking at earlier and yeah how sick does that just sound? i honestly dont care about the power gains (as much as) the sound that those cams make. its heavenly. now what would someones guess be at installation prices? because i think they would be alittle bit over my head when it comes to modding my car...

if you have to ask, you dont want to know :jester:

the 3V motors will be higher than 2V motors, because of the VCT stuff that has to be removed for cam installation. plus, just since these are new motors, many shops will charge a premium to do it. :notnice:

alright give me a pricerange. because i have heard that for the cams themselves with springs and everything are like 6-800 and then about 5-600 for ported heads? so looking around 1200-1400 with just parts and then labor ontop of that. im probably way off here feel free to correct me thats just what i saw on another forum.

labor cost

Well I just called one of my techs about the cam swap out. First I called rpm outlet and got the info on the stage 2 comp cams with the springs and titanium retainers. Kind of pricey but it sounds like a nice upgrade from the stock parts.
Now comes the bad news this is from JTs out here in Sacramento. They quoted me $1800-2000 for labor and they would need the car at least a week.

The Comp Cams are designed to work with the factory VCT, thats what they are saying in thier ads.
