Hope you guys don't mind a female sneaking in to the mix.

Stang.net has been keeping me informed on the ins and outs of the '07 GT 500 for the past year. I finally started reading the forum several weeks ago. I thought it was time to register and say a few things.

First of all, I've been a mustang fan for over 20 yrs. This makes a great mix in my house since my husband has been a life long vette owner. His car is bored, stroked, and blown making approx. 700 rwhp. I've been talking about getting an older car that needs no body work. I want to work under the hood. I want it to be MINE.

Anyway, just over a year ago I saw a picture of the up and coming '07 Shelby GT 500. The first thing I did when I returned home was to tell my husband to stop looking for an older car for me because I found exactly what I wanted. We've been talking about this car all year. I emailed him at work everytime I found something new about the car.

The time finally arrived and we went to the dealership to see about putting my name on the list. The salesman told us there would be a $20,000 mark up on the MSRP. I gave him a smile, grabbed my kids and said goodbye. I told my husband I will gladly wait a year until the price becomes more reasonable.

Hopefully I will see one at the track and I can cheer the driver on - with my $20,000.00 in the bank!!

Maybe I'll be at the track next year to see what my car can do. I'll even go side by side with the fool that paid $20,000 over.

Just a side note----I've always liked the look, sound and speed of a car. Unlike my husband, I'm new to forced induction and 4 valve engines.

Glad to have a female on these forums! I share your pain, because my local Ford dealer brushed me off when I tried to order a Shelby Mustang. I'm now an SRT8 Mopar guy and I look forward to beating Shelby Mustangs in my '08 Dodge Challenger 6.1 liter Hemi in a couple of years.

I was a bit turned off from the beginning of our trip to the Ford Dealer. The salesman asked what he could do for us and my husband replied that I wanted information on the GT500 and possibly put my name on the waiting list. The salesman said they are not allowed to have a list, first come first serve and one was scheduled to arrive that following week. He then asked my husband what specs he was looking for. My husband told the salesman the car is for me and I'm to answer those questions. He "wouldn't" believe I was seriously interested in the Shelby and kept referring back to my husband. He finally had to take the kids and walk away from us so the salesman HAD to talk to me. I asked him to show me all the new mustangs he had on the lot. He wanted me to look at all the pretty colors:mad: I didn't need him to tell me what was pretty!! I wanted to know what was under the hood!! And I told him so. I should expect that but it still gets me.

I guess I shouldn't blame the salesman. Many of my friends and my husband's buddies are a bit thrown back when they find out some of my interests. I'm the typical soccer mom driving the big SUV with two small children in the back seat and usually dry cleaning or groceries in the very back. I guess you're supposed to act macho if you like muscle cars. If so, sorry I didn't read that spec in any handbook:shrug: I guess I shouldn't have been knitting the same time I was reading(haha).

I was very interested in the Roush series before I heard about the GT500. I test drove an '03 and enjoyed it. I'm considering getting the roush instead because it's in the here and now, whereas the Shelby "might" be in the next year or so. I'm not sure.....just thinking.

I must admit the biggest interest for me was that it's a Shelby. But I'm beginnning to wonder like others how much input he actually had?.

Like I said before......I'm new at this and learning.
