car is running like crap

check the coolant level... I always have the low coolant light on and there is plenty of it.. my sender is junk but it is not worth the $100 for a new one...

the coolant level was/is low. the overflow is usually about 1/2 full, but now all of a sudden it is almost empty

Cahnge your fuel filter, your plugs and wires, oil (check for coolant) basically tune your car up, 99% of the time these type of issues are ignition related.
