where are all the mustangs?

i went to the Good Guys car show in Nashville today and i saw among the approximate 2000 cars there was maybe around 10 total Mustangs at the show.there was more Falcons at the show than there was Mustangs. i've noticed that at the local shows and local cruise-ins the last couple of years that there have been a decline in mustangs.mine is far from being ready to drive and is at least a year from being ready.

Interesting observation. I went to a local small (200 car) show yesterday and noticed the same thing. I believe there were three early models there. Several old fairlanes and galaxie but few Mustangs and no 69/70's.

i remember seeing around (64-66 2 fastbacks 2 coupes),(67-68 1 coupe),(69-70,1 boss and mach1),and (71-73 1 mach1).i may have missed a few but nothing like i expected.camaros,chevelles,and novas far outnumbered us mustang owners.

I've been noticing the same thing for a few years. I always seek out the Mustangs, especially the fastbacks, since I have one. When I do see the earlier Mustangs, it's often the stereotypical Poppy red with a white interior '65 convertible. How many of those things did they make anyway? I'll bet it's been ten years since I've seen a Shelby at a one day, outdoor show.

I think it may have something to do with most shows being judged by Chevy folks. You will see more Mustangs and Fords at Cruises than shows.

i'm seeing the same thing. mostly what i see is stock red mustangs.i really don't have anything against the people if that's what you want but my car is not numbers matching or anything like that.i'm trying constantly to get ideas to use on mine.i would like to see simple mods to use on mine.

My problem with this is when you DO see a modded Mustang, it's all the same stuff you've seen before. At a Ford Roundup with 1,000 in attendance, maybe 10 classic Mustangs will stick out in my mind. Everyone else has the same mods. It's also a problem that I see the same cars at every show every year. I got really depressed the day I realized Mustang shows can ACTUALLY get boring.

back in 2005 in australia i went to a mustang show..talk about cool seeing some of the stangs with the steering converted to the right side...

You will see mine at cruise-ins only, no shows. And it's not a poppy red with white interior, either. It's a bit different.

Most shows run from $20 and up to enter. Do this a few times a year and it becomes "not fun" even if you are not out for a trophy. Get into the bigger shows and it can be $60 or more. They all need to have a "show & shine" non judged area free or at a big discount.

Yes, my driven '66 has taken a few trophies from local shows but I would have just as much fun at a show for fun. I just enjoy meeting and talking cars to others. Cruise ins are fun but in my small town, it is hard to get things going. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Im feeling you there, I am still in college and i just cant afford the 35 bucks to enter, I havent attended a single show this year just because of the price, but there is a FREE show and cruise at the Spangles just down the road every weekend and i tend to go to that quite a bit, I am usualy the only early stang, besides an original 69 mach that he wont sell to me I dont know but your right where have they all gone.

It must be a thing in the area you are in, or maybe it just seems to go in cycles.

I took my 72 to a show on Saturday, and there were about 200 cars and about 15- 20 stangs of all years, from 65s up to an 06 saleen.
