The Couve
So for the first time since I have had the car I took it to the track to see what it would do before I start tearing into it and building the motor. The motor is stock with headers and no cats. With street tires and absolutely no traction it was running consistent 14.60's and on the fourth run it ran an identicle time and as I shifted into neutral at the end and as the rpm's were dropping it blew a bunch of smoke out the back.

I immedeatly looked down expecting to see the worst but all the gagues looked good, I had good fuel and vacume pressure and the motor seemed to be fine.

Get back into the pits, as it was running completely normal all the way back and pop the hood and look and see nothing other then what looks to be a small valve cover gaskett leaking. I leave the car for a couple of hours and watch others racing, go back and it fires right up and drives home fine with no problems. It sat all day yesterday and I fired it up this morning for work and it drove fine to work with no smoke or anything at all different then it normally does.

I guess I am a bit clueless as to what it might be, or if anyone has experienced anything like this before?

if its ok i wouldnt worry about it, what color was the smoke? i used to blow white smoke out after id get on it real hard (like at the track) with my old car. it did it for a few months with no problems. Black smoke=fuel, bluish=oil white=usuall* coolant

Yes I did check the radiator and it was a bit lower and I do smell a bit of sweetness, so looks as though a head gaskett?

I just came from the import world where something like this was a HUGE deal, is it a big deal with this motor?

Yes , it could be if you let it go , I'd change your oil and see if you have coolant in it . A blown head gasket can lead to overheating issues which can damage your motor .
