I think my budget is around 2 grand right now......So far I have
Underdrive pullies, Cold air, exhaust Xpipe and Mufflers, Superchips tune, and TB and plenum in the mail...............I have a supercharger kit lined up for the future....not the near future.....but the future nonetheless.... So what do you suggest for some more power

well, it wont give you much power, but it might help a little. have you thought of an aluminum drive shaft? or maybe some gears? short throw shifter?

I think someone else said, cams or NOS. LCA's wont give you any more power, but they should help you with traction. :nice:
 
I would have suggested saving the money you wasted on minor bolt ons and put that towards the purchase of the blower, those little things have eaten $600 minimum that would have gained you little power and would have gone a long way to getting you the blower.

if you're stock geared, get 4.10s installed and buy yourself a set of sticky tires. with the extra money, you might have enough for a set of mild cams + install (w/o valve springs). Not sure about the tune though, that may put you over the limit
 
unless he is modded himself you should never lose to the SRT4 with your current setup.

If you are getting a blower i wouldnt bother with cams, as blower cams lose power on NA engines (except the crower STG3 apparently) and NA cams dont really do much for blower cars. if you need to get further into it, long tubes is always a plus. and remember, if going blower, you will have to remove the crank UD pully.

honestly though, i'd go ahead and just get the blower. i have been debating about power for so long i finally have given in and will be getting the kenne bell 6 lb kit, buying the intercooler seperate, and using the upgrades for the 03 cobra on the heat exchanger, tank, and pumping units to keep it cooler. just not worth it on all the tiny upgrades.. and sadly that is the cold hard truth.

on the contrary, VT stage 1 cams are very boost friendly and mild enough that the stock valve springs can be used... all this without losing the car's street manners
 
i thought the VT NA cams gained a max of 5 on a boosted engine..... making it kinda weak money pit for that application... not saying you are wrong, just dont remember seeing proof of your statement.

I would only do gears or headers at this point.

gears > shorties

gears = longtubes probably

so if unwilling to do longtubes do gears.

proabaly 3.73's if boosting. If going centri I supose you could go 4.10's but the traction would get really horrible I am sure. right now the 4.10 would be perfect but when you add the blower they may be a tad deep.

cams are nice but they would eat up too much of your money for the superchanger. boost>cams so I would just do gears and then save for the boost.
 
send all the bolt ons back and get a blower.
that or Nitrous........... nitrous is our friend. :D

Honestly look at Hotmustangs car ever bolton plus cams 300rwhp. A blower or nitrous and your over those levels easily.
 
Okay so gears sound good, the guy at the mustang shop suggested them as well.........but he keeps telling me that headers would be not worth my time....Apparently it's a hard install, and not much gain?
So question, sounds dumb, but exactly how do gears work? As in, what does it do for the car?
 
4.10s + sticky tires and get a good launch at the track and you should be golden. blow off valve? oh wow, thats like +10000 hp. seriously though, just get the gears and see what happens. thats kind of shady that your own bf won't tell you what he has done to his car :notnice:
 
the gears change the rotational multiplier of the rear end.

to make it a little more simplified... "getting gears" is just the standard term for replacing the ring and ponion in your rear differential with a larger size... why is this good? simple. its easier to turn a larger gear, then it is to turn a smaller gear. its all about leverage. you can harness 10 lbs of pressure easier when you have a larger diameter to turn, just makes the wheels move easier.

the down side is that your RPMs go up faster. the net result is forcing the car to get higher into the powerband (where the car makes the most power) faster. again the down side is that you will be at a higher RPM with steeper gears at 50 MPH then you will be now. end result is loss in gas mileage, but faster accelleration.

one thing to note though... if you plan on getting a blower you might want to make sure that you you do not get too steep of a gear for the torque you will be putting down. since gears are a torque multiplier you dont want too much power without sufficient traction or you will just spin your tires instead of moving. kinda a balancing act.

I cant fault him.... would YOU tell your girlfriend what power you made if you were in a weaker car? its a pride thing. just rest in the fact you can tear him up with a handfull of mods, and then there will be nothing he can do about it..... ever. girlfriend has an RSX... but she knows her place :)
