I have a 96 GT and am looking get a better rumble. (My exaust is stock) I dont have the money for a total set up, so am just going to get new mufflers. Any preferences out there???? I was looking towards flowmasters. BTW, anyone know the specs (diameter, offset etc) on the stock mufflers. Thanks for all your input.

2" i believe. though maybe 2.25"? been a while since i was under the car worried about my exhaust.

i have 333scs spintech mufflers(in and out on one side) setup with a custom piping mimicing the roush side exhaust(since i have the S3 Roush Kit).

i love spintechs and everyone who has a mustang in my town and has the run of the mill magnaflows, slp, flo's, loves mine and are ditching their setups for spins.

Mac cat back with a mac pro chamber!

if you had the $$$ i'd say go all out and get the bassani setup...but that stuff aint cheap.

if you want just mufflers, try borrla or magna flow...

I'd say do it right, do it once....get a cat back setup.

dont mess around with weld in mufflers

good luck on your decsion...let us know what you went with after its all done

borla and bassani are the nicest best sounding choices but they are aslo the most expensive. if you don't care about alumized I would try to find a good deal on the bassani bx. the mufflers are still stainless and it sounds way better than flowmaster.

magnaflow is probably the best value as you can find it cheap sometimes. I just personally don't like the sound. slp falls into this catagory as well for me.

some people love mac, flowmaster, spintech (the chambered stuff) they all are lower quality material at a given price range and have resonance at certain rpm that just gets anoying eventually.

what I found people notice is just a regular o/r h-pipe.. I get alot of compliments with that and the rest stock.

It sounds alot louder and meaner then the same year GT with weld in flows. It cost me 160 (CAN$$) for a shop to bend and weld one in (including labour and parts).

You should try this especially if you are planning on getting mufflers later anyways. It's a win all round. You gain more ponies and it sounds better. It might even be cheaper then some mufflers as well... just a thought.
