I took in my 04 gt the other day to have them do that tsb about the clunk from 1st to 2nd they had it for about 2 weeks and when i got it back it was like driving the car the day i took her home. Tonight a buddy of mine told me to get on it because he wanted to feel the power and hear the exhaust, i was in second gear and took her up to about 3-3.5k rpms and gunned it when i heard a horrible noise come from the tranny, it sounded like somone put rocks in there, no exaggeration either it was that loud. my friend said i should take it back to the dealer he said he was sure it was coming from the tranny. Later tonight when i was driving home i gave it a little juice in 1st to see if i could duplicate the noise and it did nothing, it shifted fine from first to second smooth as butter. Do you guys have any idea what that horrible noise could have been? and should i take it back to the dealer?

that happened to me on my automatic.. i punched it then i heared like rocks being tossed around. it worked fine for about another week, but then problems occurred. the tranny began to slip then a couple of days later, i had no gear what so ever. my car couldnt move. so be on the safe side and take it back to the dealer. i had to rebuild my tranny that cost alot of $$$$$$

My car used to dosomething like that when I was in 3rd and 4th gear. When the rpms were at 4k and higher it would have a nasty rattling sound. It wa only in high rpms in those two gears. I took it to the dealer and had to take them for a ride to hear it. When I spoke to the the tech who took it apart he said it was the gears sleeves. He said they were loose.???
Anyways he said he fixed it.

I got the car back and it still does it but its not as bad. So I called the tech and told him it was still doing it and he told me that the noise I'm hearing now is because of the after market shifter. He says its were the shifter handle meets the top of the tranny. He told me to put the stock shifter on it and see if it still does it.

Hope my info helps. Ask the dealer if it could be the gear sleeves.

Interesting to find this post, I have an automatic and don't no If I’m having the same problem. A few weeks back I drove to an airshow and had to park in a field and bottomed out bad at one point and herd a loud clunk. After that day I would hear a rattle at lower speeds. I thought I knocked my exhaust lose but everything seems nice and tight. I brought my car in for an oil change last night and told the guys to see if they can hear the noise but of course the noise decided to stop 2 days ago and they said they don't hear a thing. I'm wondering if It could be my trany.

wow, your lucky loosescrew79, my car did that, and the dealership said there was nothing wrong with it and that takin the motor past 4k is considered abuse:mad:
the input shaft was also screwed up, i would hear it rattling around when i would turn into a parking spot or something while in neutral. yet the dealership still said nothing was wrong. about 2k later my tranny locked up on the freeway and i came to a screetching stop. i had no forward movement unless the clutch was in and if the shifter was in neutral and i let the clutch out it would go reverse, lol.
get it checked asap, or blow it up and get a new one. i ended up getting a new tranny, and i have about 2k on it and it feels the way my old one did just before it locked up.....yet the dealership cant find anything wrong with it...
