Wanna Ditch The Smog Pump

as long as you dont have cats the smog pump is useless. Before my engine swap, i still had the smog pump and it did nothing, when i pulled the engine, i found all the rubber hoses were melted from the headers.

Get a good catless exhaust and ditch it, block the thermactor holes on the heads and take that hunk of junk off. get a shortbelt and your set!

i cut off the ends of the tubes where they bolt down to the head.

then i flipped the piece around so the flat side touches the head and blocks the hole. someone on here mentioned how to do it and it worked lol!

I used (2) 9/16-12 grade 8 bolts with 12mm copper washers to plug the holes. I cut the bolts down a bit to keep from having to turn them all day. This should be an easy task with some gear ratchets and a grinder... Took no more then 10mins for me to do it.

Before I had my heads off, the threads in the holes were so packed with carbon, I could not thread a bolt in. So, I cut the tube back near the firewall and used some of that steel in a tube epoxy type stuff you knead together to plug the line. Worked great, but then again I guess you could do like foxfan said and not have the tube sticking out at all.

Thats what I did, but you can buy plugs from Summit to acomplish the same thing.
