On my way home I saw a white 65 coupe sitting on a lot and I pulled in to look at it. It hasnt been registered since 03, needs a paint job, body has a few dings, and some small pinholes of rust in the floor pan behind the passanger seat. The engine bay looks like it could use a cleaning but no rust in the obvoius places. The interior is mostly there, looked like the kick panels were missing but it would all need to be replaced eventually.

I talk to the person on the lot and they just got it yesterday, they dont know the mileage but he says it s a matching #s car. It has factory A/C (not hooked up) and its an auto and a new gas tank.

I know you guys will ask for pics which ill try and get them later but does it sound like the car is worth the 3790.00 the lot is asking for?

The vin is 5F07A684300 - doors were locked so I couldnt see the tag on the door.
Plant is MI
2D hardtop
289 V-8 (4V)

I see you are from Texas (me too) which is normally a good sign for an old car. $4000 may sound high, but I've approached many people about old Mustangs that sound like they were in way worse condition that this car for similar prices, but I've also seen 65/66 Coupe Mustangs for $2000 in the West Texas area. If you want a project car right now look around, you can probably find a better deal (maybe a grand or 2 cheaper)

Bonus is it has a V-8 and that saves alot of time and money on a V8 conversion if thats what you want. In the end it really depends on what you want to do to the car and whether you think you will be able to get anything like this in the future again.
