My dad's a royal pain in my @ss!!!!

My dad bought my car with a blown up 4 cylinder for $150.00 this was two years before I could even drive. He rebuilt the 4cylinder and put 5 lugs on it so I could put my Prostars on it. So I had a 5 lug 4cylinder mustang with Prostars. I drove it like that all threw high school. My mom wouldn't let him put a 5.0 in it. A lot of people thought I would never put a V8 in it. But I saved my money up and when I graduated high I put a 302 in it. I glad my mom didn't let him because I put that 2.3 and aod threw hell burnout left and right neutral drops here and there. I got all that kid immature stuff out before I put some real power in it. Now it has a 351W I glad things turnout the way they did.

yeah but all i wanted for 4 years was a 5.0 and the 3.8 is a kick in the ass. before that my dad said you can get a 5.0 as long as it is a 79-85. dint want me to have the efi. why i dont know. then after i got to drive his it was no 5.0.

but you want to now the biggest part that sucks. when i was 13 i was looking at a 1990 ranger. had a 5.0 out of a 93 mustang and he wanted 400 bucks. and my dad let me buy it. ok so wtf i was allowed to have a 2,000 pound truck with over 200hp??? then i painted it like fool and put some 18 inch wheels on it and sold it for 3,200..... and i miss the thing so much. that was my first 5.0 i had and it will most likely be my last.

mustangs are getting to cost more and more every day and when im 18 i can get a 5.0 but not till then. and by that time i will be paying for college rent ect and wont be able to afford a 5.0L mustang.

so all in all this blows.

they wont even let me buy a 5.0L mustang that would be built to run the 1/4 and for that to be its soul purpose!!!!!!!!!!

all in all this sucks.

I want a damn Supercharged Cobra or Saleen but I won't be getting one in the near future. It's LIFE. Sucks but you have to accept it. I see it this way, if you REALLY want a 5.0 start saving NOW. By the time you're 18 you should have enough to buy one (a decent one) and then, no one can tell you NO.:nice:

Well I want a 6 car garage and a Saleen S351 and a 07 Shelby GT500 and a 69 Boss 429 and whatever else I want, I want, I want... What is all of this "LIFE" crap anyways??? I WANT!!!

:gets off soapbox pedestal:

hey...your v6 is probably much faster and less suck value than my first ride... 87 taurus.. then after that was a 91 lx fourbanger... now i rock the 91lx coupe. i am thankful for that pos 91 4cyl.. it makes this car look and feel so much better :)

well don't everyone. is a 5.0 to much to be allowed to have. i mean look a 69 boos a 07 gt500 cost a lot of money a 5.0 you can pick up for around 1,000-5,000 depending on where you are wanting to start with it. i love the car and i hate the car. i hate it becasue civics will be fast then it. i love it becasue its a mustang. i didn't want a vert either. but its what i got. my dad got whatever car he wanted when he was 15 and since he had a lead foot he thinks i will too. all in all. i think its stupid. this car needs so much work. not that i dont mind doing it. its just that i will have alot of money in it in just looks and i wanted to have money in the engine.

i bought the car for 1,600 not bad i think but after I'm all done. with the outside of the car and the inside i will have upwards of 5,000 in it and then if i decide to convert it to a v8 or buy a original v8 car i will be taking a huge loss in money becasue.......... Who wants a v6 mustang

I had a 5.0 when i was 16.

After looking back and seeing the things i did with it, my kid would never get a car like a 5.0 at 16 years old.

At 14 years old, i wouldn't let you do the 5.0 swap either. It may suck really bad, but wait til you are older and you will look back and understand completely.

well right now it dont understand. all i understand is he got one and now that he had one he wont let me have one. i think its all stupid. but whatever cant change it.

14years old?.. Anyway Ryan.. If you're under 18.. I know it sucks (I've been there) But once you are older I think you'r Dad will allow you to make more decisions yourself without thinking it is a bad decision because you are young. You have more than enough time to get that dream setup of your's! If you really believe you can handle the job and get that engine.. then more power to You.. But if you don't then don't worry about it.. PLENTY OF TIME to get what you want!.:SNSign: By the time that You are older you will be able to get the car You want with the 5.0. (being that you said you don't want a vert)

When I was 16, there was a guy across the street selling a 79 Mustang and my parents wouldn't let me buy it because they thought me owning a Mustang would make me irresponsible and drive like an idiot. The FUNNY thing was that it was a 4 cylinder!
Anyway - I ended up being stuck with an '84 Tempo that ran on 3 cylinders (no compression in one of them). It looked like crap and ran like crap, but they were wheels. What I am getting at is that you are probably further ahead than most of us when we were your age! Be thankful your parents let you buy a Stang - even though it is a 6 cylinder!

If you start saving now, you'll be able to buy a 5.0 when you turn 18. You have PLENTY of time.

My first car was an 88 LX four banger notch that was 4 different colors: White (prodominately), Black (used black fender), red (someone used that por15 stuff on the doors and it turned red), and brown (lots of rust)

A buddy gave me an old pair of 10 inch subs to put in it. Was pretty cool feeling air rush out of the holes in the quarter panel from the subs.... but then again, water could fall into the trunk.

My point is.... this was all I could afford and all I was allowed at that time. I drove that car for 6 months and saved my money. Eventually I bought a 94 Firebird 3.4l (great looking car but no real power). I was proud of that car even though at the time I had enough money to get the formula version but the *father* wasnt having it.

When I turned 18 everything changed. I was paying my own insurance so he just stopped caring about how I drove or what I drove. So, I started saving money again, sold the bird and bought my gt and stuck a vortech on it along with other go-fast goodies. Im even happier now.

My point being, and I know you dont want to here it, but you really are a little young to be worried about such a thing. You will understand EXACTLY what ur father is afraid of after 1 year of being able to drive on ur own. You will notice all the close calls you had in the 6 banger and realize how much worse it could have been with a more powerful engine.

For right now, just enjoy the top being down and just cruise. Hell, my father wouldnt let me get a vert when I was younger because THOSE were too unsafe. So, just be glad you get that privledge and even if you DONT like the vert.. the women do.. and isnt that what driving in HS is all about? Grabbing the women? lol

Just wait it out... we cant all have what we want when we want it. But with time and hard work anything we want is possible. Start planning and saving now and be prepared for the day you are on ur own.

At 14, it is time to prepare for what you are going to do in the future. The next 4 years will creep by as you live them, but fly by when you look back at them.

Make good use of your time, show your parents you are dilligent and can be trusted and you will have more freedom to do things. Your dad is probablty paying for your insurance, and insurance on a 6 cylinder car is cheaper than a V8. That plus he knows what he did as a kid growing up and he wants to keep you out of trouble. A young kid & a 5.0 Mustang can get into lots of trouble. Maturity comes with age, and with age comes good judgement, at least for most of us.

Do what you want when your name is on the mortgage...stop complaining about not having the car you want...your closer to 10 than 20, you're not a licenced driver....did I mention you should stop complaining. When you get a job that allows you to pay the rent...then you can call the shots.

Here is a little piece of advice, shut the Hell up.

You are 14 years old you can't even vote yet. From now until your time on this Earth is over you will probably have countless numbers of cars. Some you will remember and some you will forget even owning. You will only have one father and mother.

Your parents love you they aren't telling you no to hurt your feelings they are telling you no because they don't want to see you wrapped around a telephone pole.

My parents are getting up on in their years and the older I get I realize cars, houses, clothes and material things are just stuff and fluff. What really matters in this world are family and friends, period. All material things can be replaced but those two things are irreplaceable.

I am not trying to be an ass. You should be thankful that your parents actually care about you enough to say no.
