I am considering getting rid of my chrome 17x9 '95 Cobra R's for a set of stock 17x8 '98 Cobra wheels. My primary goal is to save some weight. My wheels, with a 255/45/17 GForce Sport tire weigh 55lbs each.

For those of you who still have the stock wheels, can you weigh one of your wheels with tire on and post up the weight? I know it's a wierd request but I hope some of you SVT guys would be up to it.

Thanks,
Gabe

tire weight

i have a set of replica that i use to run on my 96 cobra with 275/40-17. with that wheel and tire combination my mph was slower than with the stock wheels and tires it went from 106 down to 103 mph but with the same e.t. do to a better 60ft. time. but if you are running the car for speed stick with the factory rims with a softer tire and if you have a problem with cooling i fixed that to i drilled 3 #30 holes in the themostat in a prymid shape. i live in ga. and right now it is high 90 to low 100 and my hand dont go pass m sitting in traffic and thats without a radiator deflector or air damn . but the only down side to that is in the winter time the motor dont build enough heat for the heater to work good . winter time the temp. it runs on the n while moving and o while at a stop or idling .this is a 96 with a 190000 miles

stock wheel weight

I have a set of 98 cobra wheels and tires sittin in the basement so I weighed one for ya. This is the silver factory wheel that came on the car with the stock bfg tire 245/45/17. I got 44#. I believe my scale to be pretty close. There was about 20k mi on the tires so a little rubber is gone. Hope this helps.
