Rocker Panel Replacement

Hey guys, been a long time since I've posted here. I've finaly got around to redoing my floorpans, and I've got the entire passenger side done:D but thats where the happiness ends. My drivers side rocker panel from about the middle of the door up to where the toe board starts is rot, like complete rot, and it looks like someone tried to jack the car up using that area because its all caved in in this one section. What are my options for replacing this? I know this is a significant issue in terms of overall strength and integrity of the car so I want to do it right. Should I spend the $130 or so on a rocker panel replacement piece or should I try and fashion something myself from sheetmetal and weld it in there? Has anyone does this? As always, thanks for all the help:SNSign:

Here are some detailed floor+rocker replacement photos

but they are on a convertible, so the rocker panel is a little beefier:

password is "hello321" - all work was done by a SF Bay Area Mustang body shop, they do great work, let me know if anyone wants their info.

I had a ton of rust repair, obviously, but I guess it could have been worse - the rockers and frame were straight, never hit, and those rails never saw a jack.

best of luck, it gets better. :D

it's a labor of love

heh, yeah, about this time last year I wrote a pretty scary check to a great shop . . . but I was reunited almost 2 years ago with this car after about 10 years in storage, and it had rust issues 15 years ago. Almost up to the firewall, and in the rear corners was a surprise, as was the fact that it got in one of the rockers.

I have too much going on with my house to take on that level of project myself, and I'm glad that part's behind me, hopefully these help you envision what's going on in those rockers . . .
