How long does it takes for the whine to go away after a new gear install, all the seals, bearing and chits were installed brand new, no old pieces in the gear box.

Sounds like it was not shimmed right. May have to go in there and do over. They dont make any noise at all.

The guy told me the whinning was normal at the beginning..

Get your cash back and go to a different shop. If he gives you problems go to "The Bureau of Automotive Repair".

I had a gear shop try to screw me and I went to TBAR and filed a report and got the difference back of what he first quoted me to what he charged me in the end. Like a 300.00 dollar difference and I supplied the brand new Ford Racing 3.73!!!! Sorry about the rant :)

take it back..

Mine were done wrong... he didn't get the proper rotational tourque on the pinion.... I then wiped the pinion bearings, and took it back where he completely rebuilt the rear (all bearings, seals, etc) for nada. The whine came right back and then me and my bud re-tourqued the pinion... then about 8k miles later the whine went away....

Trust me and everyone elsse that has them.. You DO want gears...

I have probably one of the worst gear stories and I would do it again... Only next time I would install them myself...

I'm calling the guy today, havent ran the stang since 1 week now, i just can't stand it i will take her out for a quick and very low speed spin in a few and pray it doesnt **** anything till i get her to the garage.

Did he re-did your gears for free ?

Yep...

He rebuilt the rear for free, I jsut had to pay for the parts....

So I ended up paying $420 for the install and gears, then I paid $130 for the rebuild stuff, and still had to torque the pinion nut myself... then since then I have changed the rear end fluid 3 times...

Hope you have better luck man....
