TRE Performance 255lph fuel pump?

Has anybody used their fuel pump? They claim it is as good as Walbro but it only costs 69.99?!?! The kit application for our cars seems complete and you even get new in tank wires with the kit. This is $40-50 cheaper than the average 255lph, so are they any good? thanks

Please report back. I love to hear about deals like this. Let us know if it worked out!

p.s. I have found deals on oem slotted/cross-drilled rotors, wheels, a starter, heck, even my engine and they all worked out great.

I think another interesting thing about this company is how much credit they give the FMS Sportsman block. If you go to their web site and check out the 306/331/347 Sportsman 9 second Short Block. First off the price is great but 600-750 hp (w/ girdle)?? Most guys on this forum call the Sportsman block a waste of time and ford only rates it at 450hp?? I e-mailed them and this is what they said:

“For the capabilities of the standard 302 2 bolt main blocks, like the one that came stock in your 95GT, you are looking at around 500-550 flywheel horsepower before the block will crack. Stepping up to the Ford Sportsman block you will be ok up to around 650-700hp at the flywheel, 750 with low rpms and a Canton Main Girdle. Anything over this and you have to kick down the extra $1,000 to step up to the Dart Sportsman block which will handle MUCH more than you were looking at for the 331 supercharged setup.
The question is what are your future plans, and how much power do you anticipate for the future? The key thing being how much do you want to spend now on the block and internals? If you want to be on the low end of your estimate for power (450 at the wheels) you will be ok with the standard 2 bolt main block and cast crank available for $1995 with our performance 331/347 setup. If you want to be on the higher end (500-550 at the wheels) you would need to go up to the Ford Sportsman block for $3395. Anything stronger than that and you would need to step up to the Dart Sportsman for $4295.
We obviously have no interest in selling a setup that will break at the power numbers we advertise, and stand behind our setups. It is hard to say what Ford uses to determine their estimates, but my guess is fear of lawsuits come in to play. The best source for information on the power capabilities of these blocks is through discussions with people who have ran the blocks with different setups.”

It makes you wonder if the guys that think Sportsmans are a waste of time, were over doing them a little. “Well if 10 lbs of boost got me 500rwhp, I wonder what 14 lbs will get me? Boom!!!!!! “I’m bored with this 150 shot, I think I’ll try the 250 shot, just once. Boom!!!!! “Spinning to 6000 sounds cool, I wonder what 7000 sounds like? Boom!!!!!!!!!

I got plans for a 500rwhp S/C 331 and I really did not want to spend the extra $1100 on the DART and TRE’s might have given me a little hope! What do you guys think?

You must look at what the sportsman block is and the reason for certain ratings. Ford reduced their ratings due to oval track racers running them for extended periods at very high rpm's and having problems having it hold the rating ford had at the time. Drag racers aren't doing this however....which lets them make more power without the main caps walking. The fact is that block failures are due to the lack of meat in the main cap area, and the sportsman block DID take care of this to some degree by making the main bolts blind (no hole protruding from bottom) and adding more material to the mains between them and the cam. Basically what they did is go with the original early 302/289/mexican casting, but add the possibilty of oem roller cam use. The early blocks all had this extra stregth to them, which is why people use them/were using them when wanting the strongest 2 bolt block setup.

For 500rw, the sportsman will get the job done....but we will also be using the new boss casting as well, which is a far better choice and will be a very close price to the sportsmans :).

Regarding our fuel pumps-

We have a 1 year guarantee, and RARELY have anyone contact us with a failure. Our pumps are NOT made by walbro. They are quieter, flow nearly the same, and have the same dimensions and nearly the same design. You will barely notice any difference from stock noise. We have flow information on our website, and have also had RC engineering independently test them to flow very close to the highest flowing walbro in tank pumps.

Anyone who has researched the walbro 255's know that there are plenty of people whom have had their issues with them, and if the customer wanted a replacement they also had to pay walbro another $40 to even have them look at the pump to see if they would warrantee it....let alone have them actually send them a pump as a replacement after taking the $40 and having a bad pump. Basically, buy it, and you are stuck with it...working or not. We pride ourselves in doing everything possible to make the customer happy....and no hassle warranties are part of that goal.

Contact me if you have any questions regarding any of our products.

Wow paul, your on a forum defending your product! :jaw: I think i'm actually impressed for once.:D There are other people on this forum that do services (tmoss:SNSign: ) and others but they have never had to defend there stuff, It's nice to see your standing behind you products and their hp ratings. :nice:

It's a great pump, I installed it the beginning of last year and not only is the pump great, the customer service TRE gave me was excellent. I actually broke my first pump installing it (it was my fault, I broke the tube when I tried jamming on the hose) I called TRE and they sent me a brand new one within 3 days. The pump is still working flawlessly.

It even comes with a 1 year guarantee. Is it worth the cheapness to maybe have to replace it in 8 months or just buy an expensive one once? Unless someone has this pump and it's been working for a while.
That's the question isn't it RJ......is saving the 30 bones worth dropping the tank and doing it again.......but that's the risk we take with anything aftermarket.........

can we here on stangnet get a discount...

or buy my walbro and know its quality for $10 more :)

First, ours are more of a discount than that. Second, do you KNOW this? I KNOW lots of people having problems with walbro's 255's. I also know that if you have a problem, you won't get another one without paying more money for it ($40 if you are lucky, or the full cost if you aren't...plus that $40 if you attempt to get a replacement before buying another). I also know that it will make a LOT more noise.

Call and ask for me and mention stangnet and I will give you a $5 discount. That makes it $75 to your door with priority mail.

Thank you for the info, the FMS Sportsman is looking better and better. I thought the boss casting was priced like a Dart Sportsman?

It will be closer to $1,000 than 2. You should save well over $500 going that route. I have not checked on availability recently however.....they should be out very soon if they haven't started shipping yet.
