If you removed your dogbone... Get in here!!!

isnt the vib felt more with it on than off, since the vibs are kind of directed more towards the driver, instead of just reverberating against itself, but it is safer to have it on, even if it is felt more? its the anti harmonic dampener for the driveshaft... i think the crucial point with stock 3.08's is around 80-90 mph and with 4.10's it happens at a much much lower speed like high 50's or 60's maybe... i cant remember which speed exactly. also, an aluminim driveshaft will flex more to harmonics than a steel one... just my .02 that i picked up somewhere, im just too scared to take her off...

Nope. the point of the dogbone it sto absorb the vibration and cancel it out. This means it will not build on itself.

Basically it is to reduce NVH more so than extend bearing life.

However it can only be tuned for certain frequencies and if these correlate to lower d/s speeds then it can work completely the opposite at higher d/s speeds (actually increase NVH). A lot of this depends on the condition of the dogbone bushings. I eralized last night that one of the bushings on mine was crackied and the other was oil saturated from a previous pinion gear leak that was reapired when the gears were done.

anyone have a pic of their dogbone, and the plate that needs to be reinstalled?? i wanna remove mine but not sure what im removing?? and the snubber, anyone know the advantages of buying a adjustable one?

I can get a pic tomorrow if you need it ..... but it's really easy to spot. It's on the lower front side of the pumpkin (toward front of car). It's about 8-10" long.

It has a bracket on the top. When bolted together, the bracket & dog bone kind of wrap around the pinion. The upper bracket also is used to smack the pinion snubber when you hit hard bumps.

When I removed mine, I just took the innner metal bushings out of the dog bone. I slipped them over the original bolts, and bolted the upper bracket back on.

An adjustable snubber is good for lowered cars. Some lowering springs come with aftermarket snubbers already, though.

It's really easy. Took 10 minutes or less if you don't have pissed off dirt dauber's nests on your pumpkin. You'll see once you get down there & remove it.

If you didn't get your driveshaft precision balanced with the new gears - do it and the vib may go away. Went from 3:08 to 3:73, removed dogbone - had a vibration at speed. Got shaft balanced, vib is gone.

I hit a rather large bump...a second of grinding metal later, I lost a bit of my car:rolleyes:

one side had completely broken off somehow, so it was hanging off angle...I had noticed that 3 days before the rest came off

I went from 3.08 to 3.73s and removed the dog bone in the process; I now have vibs over 80mph, and they get pretty bad around 100mph (factory driveshaft). I plan on getting the FMS shaft and hopefully the vibs go away.
