Slotted Rotor Dis Coloration After Washing

Had a question per the I Rotors, which I've had for a couple of months now. I don't know the technical term, but after washing you'll notice a rust color residue left behind after drying. That all goes away after one quick lap around the block, but the dis color is left behind from the areas that the pads don't touch. Someone please school me on this, and what you have done to clean it up. Could it be the material of the rotor itself, or does this happen on all?

It's normal oxidization of the rotor surface.

Anything I can use to keep this area clean?

bare metal rusts. You can paint the areas that do not come in contact with the pad using brake caliper paint.

Anyone tried getting there rotors zinc or cad platted? What was the cost? Or should I go with another brand?

This has happened on every set of disc breaks I've had. Even if they're clean when I park at night, if it rains overnight, they will have rust spots in the morning. Nothing to worry about. It rubs off of the working area of the disc within a couple minutes of driving.

I'm not concerned about those areas the pad hits, its those slotted/cross drilled areas which it doesn't, and the rust makes them look like ****.

I highly doubt, this happens to every set of cross drilled/slotted rotors.

You're right, it looks really bad. I think it's worth upgrading to a set of rotors that will not rust anywhere. Good luck.

we need to see a pic of YOUR issue. That's not an issue in that pic.

What I would like is a set, that won't rust in those slotted/cross drilled areas. It makes the overall appearance look like ****.

you're gonna have to paint those areas. Just use black paint and it will never be noticed.

what they are trying to tell you is there is not much you can do on a street driven car to prevent this. you could try to paint those spots.. thats abotu the only thing I can think of. or every time you wash it or it rains scrub them off with a wire brush.
