Well was on the way home from a cruise in tonight, I was driving my 71 Lincoln and she was driving the 76 Cobra II. I knew it wasnt a good thing when she left about 1 min before me and by the time I got to the exit there was a group of guys standing there looking down the street and I see my Cobra sitting in the middle of the road with the door open. I get down there and get the story. Turns out she was in the right turn lane and this kid in an F-150 thinks she is pulling into the 7-11 so he pulls out right in front of her, she locked it up but still hit his rear wheel. The kid was so nervous when he saw me pull up and get out, I told him **** happens what can you do? The worst part about the whole thing was the damn cop that came out. This ******* starts to tell me he isnt going to make a report because he was a body man for 15 years and he knows its way less that $1000 damage. I ended up bitching to him until he started a report. I was thinking yea and the last cop at the scene of my wifes last accident said it looked like 1000 - 1500 in damage to her van, $14,800 later we get the van back. I hate these damn cops that all of a suddon think they are expert body men. Anyway I digress. Looks like I will be calling Hagerty Monday morning. Here are some pics of the damage:

finally the truck. It looks like it tore up the corner pretty good. The bottom of the core support is bent, the fender has 2 good sized buckles, the bumper struts are bent, both doors are chipped, both fenders are chipped, the hood scoop broke a stud and wrinkled the stripes, the hood is pushed back to the firewall. Who knows what else, it pulled like hell to the left driving it home Oh and the left front tire rubs when you turn to the right. I will have to get it into a body shop and get it looked at.

Yep those are the new Ansens. I posted some pics a while back in the wheels & tires known to fit post here http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=373351&page=5, I like them.

The big thing that scares me about it is the left hand pull and the tire rubbing when I turn. It rubbed a little when I first put the wheels on but it was just hitting one of the tabs the the inner fender mounted to, i cut it off and it was fine, but now it is rubbing somewhere.

Ooops, hadn't checked the wheel/tire thread in a while:doh: Wonder how they'd look on my newly re-acquired white/red car....

Sounds to me like the front is around. Bent bumper shocks means it took a pretty good whack. When they check it out (preferably on a nice bench system), the area to look closely at is near the engine mount brackets. My rails were bent pretty good, but the wreck was a lot worse than yours. Everybody I've evr talked to that actually had a claim with Hagerty had nothing but good to say, so here's hoping the Cobra will back in top form soon!

Thats what I told the wife. She was freaking out that I was going to get mad at her or something. I told her that its just a car, I built it before I can build it again, the important part was that her and my 9 year old are OK.

No everything has been great so far, dont have a check in hand yet I just talked to the adjuster last night. He seemed to e very reasonable, he called Phil and got prices on good used parts and when I explained that I had put some NOS parts on that were now junk he put in the NOS prices for them. I did have to laugh though when he said he must have called 20 places to get part quotes and they all said sorry we dont carry parts for those. He said that by far this was the hardest car he has ever had to try and locate parts for.
