X-pipe gains .3 off of 1/4

So after installing my pipe, I consistantly knock off .3 and gain about 5mph in the quarter. This using a Gtech, they're very accurate tho, we tested before installation of all mods also. Another thing that's weird, my friends 5.0, and MY 5.0 Capri, didnt gain anything at all that I could tell, or he. Ofcourse I didnt have a Gtech at the time, but the H-pipe on my 5.0 defoantly didnt do what my X did for my 4.6....Is there a difference in the motors, one wants to breath better?

Or maybe my 4.6 is just liking the pipe alot, I know some cars just run good for no apparent reason...It runs better then my few friends that have 99+ 4.6's. I dont get it :shrug:

Gtech=:notnice:

track=:nice:

Something doesn't seem right, b/c I got a 5mph and .5 tenth gain in the 1/4 from track timing with LT's and prochamber. So either your car was extremely rich from the factory and was running slower than the avg. and the x-pipe leaned it out, or the gtech is not very accurate. Also keep in mind, the way gtech and 1/4 trap speeds are calculated differently. Have you done a before and after dyno?

+- two tenths in the 8th is an awesome gain considered in the 1/4th

Thanks :nice:

I did a before and after dyno. The car picked up ~20rwhp/rwtq and a very nice kick in the pants :D

I dunno, all I can say is the X-Pipe has made a huge difference, I dont understand why. After 3k or so you can really start to tell the difference, and from 4k-6k it feels like a really good gain.

Ehh Gtech could be off, no doubt, but there's certainly a huge gain in acceleration since the pipe, something i've never experienced with any of my 5.0's. Guess it's just something weird.

Just what's listed in sig, misc stuff isnt installed yet.
Maybe the Gtech wasnt done properly. But anyways I can "feel" a huge difference in the top end, no idea why. It defonantly pulls harder than it should from just a pipe...I dunno. I cant explain why it runs like it does.

I had a huge SotP gain and a loss of rubber on the tires after my prochamber install so who knows... yes the G-Tech isn't 100% but from most posts I'd say 90% close?

the G-tech is pretty accurate if you use your brain when using it..

1. do not time going up hills or downhills no matter how slight.. This will throw the readings off..

2. no times anywhere are going to be the same, small differences in weather will swing the times one way or another.

I have used the newest model of the G-tech and I find it to be a great tool for practice at the track.. the only thing that is slightly off is the MPH becuase on the G-tech it's the MPH at the end of the 1/4 where at the track it's average MPH thru the trap.

Well no one is disputing that the x-pipe is helping in the power dept. It will certainly help the engine in the upper rpm band not be so lazy. I'd say it is very likely to pick up 10-15rwhp from the x-pipe depending on how much leaner your car is running from the mod. I see you have BBK headers, short or long? What did you have before the x-pipe? If you really want to gain the full benefits from the x-pipe, get some gears....biggest SOTP difference you can do for the car other than power adders.
