My 8 trumpet Manifold Project.

My jaw dropped. That is ****ing sick! I am extremely impressed just like everyone else. Definately stick that thing on a dyno and see what it gets you.

If it works well I wonder if you could market it somewhere?

Thanks for all those comments guys :nice:

Yep, I'm in that land down under commonly known as Oz, so time differences don't allow me to be online at the same time, :D .

I have no idea what the HP output is other than it boogies, although as indicated the wideband a/f gauge is showing the 19lb injectors are obviously maxing out at WOT.

But my US net buddy in CA has just taken delivery of some FMS 24lb injectors, calibrated Pro M Maf and also a 93 Cobra X3Z ecu and matching 73mm Maf and they're on there way. After the the 24's are installed I do intend to put it on a dyno out of interest.

However, being in a 4wd I purposely built the engine with low compression for several reasons and high hp was not the main aim etc but its stats are.

5.0 + 020", 8.8 compression, GT40X Turbo Swirl alloy heads with 61cc chambers, all intake exhaust ports matched, custom 1-1/2" headers, E303, 1.7 rollers, 73mm Maf, 70mm TB, 255lph pump, Malpassi FPR, and the injection as shown. I would suspect it should be around the 350fwhp, once the 24's are installed but I could be wrong, so any views would be appreciated.

I may consider replacing the E303 with a more appropriate cam later if the lope etc interferes with 4wd use, :D .

Comments on what would be a good replacement would really be appreciated.

I was interested in this guys comments about the Comp Cams nitrous designed cam used as n/a, particularly the street manners etc.

" if you want awesome low end up to 5800-6k use the comp cams nx264hr cam I am running this cam it is ground to preserve the low - mid end it sounds decent to not to lumpy but not stock either. And if you ever run Spray or super charger it is great fo that too. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...2D35-552-8 This cam has great street manners no surge no drive issues car runs perfect as it did stock.

However, on page 1 of the stats it mentions its not computer controlled compatiable yet if you click on "show all" it says Cam is designed to be computer-compatible with factory electronic fuel injected vehicles. so I am a tad confused, :D .

Obviously, I want to take advantage of the injection set up but at the same time would prefer good street manners, good mpg but a lope is not a problem :)

But at the moment with the E303 it does haul to the rev limiter in seconds and so so easy. It also has a bundle of torque and I got a great mpg with my former custom upper manifold and I expect the same with this set up if not better so any comments on the above cam or others would be appreciated.

Its in this, :D

I have two setups coming.

One is a Pro M maf calibrated for 24's with a set of FMS 24lb injectors that I can therefore use with my current EEC -IV ecu as the recalibrated MAF will take care of business :D

The other is the factory 93 Cobra X3Z ecu and its matching MAF. The Cobra ECU is supposedly factory programmed for 24's :) and I'm told Ford Oz used this ecu in a 93 model XR8 Falcon as it also came with 24's.

I would have thought either option would be fine :D but please let me know if either could be a problem.

Awesome looking manifold and nice looking 4Runner as well, I'd love to have either. :D

Any plans to produce more of those manifolds and sell them? They'd sell for sure here in the US...

I've had both MAF and Speed Density customers use that cam with no problems.

It took a lot of work to fab and the cost was high so at this stage I would have to say no, but money talks :D

Just for interest here's my 4RUNNER PAGE with all details except I have yet to update the injection.

Mate, thanks for clarifying that.

Would it be fair to say that given the specs on this cam (as per link above) it may perform better than the E303 with my set up ?.

Impressive.
Now what you need to do, is RW dyno it, with that intake and a cobra or gt40. So we can compare.
I meant to comment.

If you look at the pic on my first post you will see it also has a centrally located manifold setup. That was my 2nd model fitted to a GT40 lower, the first was similar but fitted to a normal inline HO lower. Although I never had either on a dyno there was no need to as both gave a massive improvement by the seat of the pants dyno and also mpg. I won't go into specifics but IMHO the various long runner manifolds suck, hence I made my own central units and to also to improve access to the rocker covers etc etc

I have never shown their design to anyone as I did consider making them on the side but time just doesn't allow it at the moment.

The 8 trumpet setup is something I have always wanted so I made it :D and again it massively outperforms my fomer GT40 custom upper. There is no loss of torque and it absolutely hauls in the upper ranges so much so it hits the rev limiter way too quick :D I'd love to build up an engine with a bullet proof bottom end to go to 8000rpm but thats not something really required in a 4wd :D

But I'm willing to bet some guys would be astounded at what numbers they could achieve if they used a better upper rather than whats currently available so don't be afraid to experiment :D .

I liked my nx264hr cam very well. I think if you want the low end grunt the stock cam provides but the perfomance of a aftermarket cam as well then this is a good choice.
