i want to figure out a way to buff it out without having to get the whole door & left quarter repainted

it's a good 6-7 inches long, and i can feel it a slight bit with my fingernail. is there anything i can do that might make it look ok?

Go find the kid and smash his face against the door and use his blood to fill in the key line.

P.S. Sorry man, a friend of mine had his car keyed and he tried everything to make it look decent he was just never happy with the way it turned out. He later ended up getting it painted.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, people just have 0 respect anymore.

Well- hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you can feel it with your fingernail, its not gonna come out.

You can buff it, and MINIMIZE it, but its still going to be there. :(

it wouldn't do me any good to own a gun...I'd find the *****er and blow his ass away lol...I'd rather someone spit in my face then key my car. I'm sorry man, take it to a body shop and get an estimate...if it's outrageous then just make a claim. Goodluck on stomping this loser.

This sucks

It is so sad that just because you have a nice car, someone else is so jealous of it that want to mess it up. I Live in MS, and here if you dont own a gun they issue you one. I stopped carring mine just for this reason. So many stupid people out there, I was afraid there would come a time when I just lost it and ended up in jail.

Ok so they dont really issue you a gun, but getting a carry permit is really easy here.

heh, it's simple here in FL too...like I said I'm afraid to do it because I would lose it if my baby was keyed (I get pissed when I can't avoid a puddle). I feel your pain man, there are a lot of *******s like that around here too...they'll mess your car up because it's nice. Jealousy, I hate that...If I ever witnessed something like that I honestly would more then likely serve a life sentence.

Hold on, don't run to the body shop just yet. Try this first, it worked for me but the scratch was shallow and I dont know about yours. That should help:

Think i'm gonna give this a try. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, then to the body shop it goes. I still can't believe some prick would just decide that he doesn't like me because of my car.

Things like this make me lose my faith in humanity

Here in Tupelo we're issued glocks.

I wondering if you could get an insurance claim on it. I know some one rearended my parked car twice with out contacting e and I got mine fixed on insurance. I had to pay the deductable but it was lowered because of laws in my state on hit and run.. Just a thought. Good Luck

Its not just pretty Mustangs, Mercedes, BMWs, etc either! My wife had her new Mazda 3 compact sedan for just a couple months when someone keyed her driver's door (nice swirly, real deep).

Stupid cholo1 "odelay! Check out that car is got da sparkly orange paint dude"

Stupid cholo2 "we should totally key it man, being that it cost the owner nearly $19k new it disrespects my authority!!"

68RustBucket, sorry to hear this. for most people, proper scratch removal is not possible at home. it may be best to have a shop try to buff it out and see how well it comes out. if it is ok, then you dont need paint. if not ok, then at least you tried before you painted.

i just read that thread mike. that sucks big time. replacing the dash is not fun. i hate replacing dashes!!! i did one on an 04 intrepid today. i can thank dodge for a sweet airbag design.

I've had a few cars of mine keyed in the past...I feel your pain.
I've always thought that they should come up with keys that have a hard plastic blunt tip...90% of cars getting keyed have been with keys...no sharp keys and less chance of some idiot doing this horrible and jealous act!

has anyone ever tried masking the key scrap (and I mean mask it well) and using touch up paint and a wet sand and a clear over it. if you are very detailed in masking the scrap, it may work.
