Mach 1 All about tires

First, about how long do tires last for Mach 1s? At 14,000 I think I am in need of a new set. Is that normal milage for stock tires? It seems kinda low to me. I pretty much baby the car (no burnouts or anything like that). The car had a previous owner for its first 1,700 miles. I am wondering what abuse he put them through.

Second, what type of tires should I get and from where? I don't need the best for the type of driving I do but I don't want any crap either. I'm also a cheap bastard. :D What do you recommend?

Most people will say that the stock Goodyear Eagles are "junk", "trash", "POS", etc. I won't be as harsh, because I actually thought they were decent tires. Problem is, they are a very soft compound that wears pretty quickly, even without abuse. Check the rubber residue (black powdery stuff) on your rear quarter panels after driving the car for awhile and you'll see what I mean! As for recommending tires, I try not to. I usually go with a tire that I like the looks of, has a decent wear rating, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, since I already left one of each at the local gas station!

I'm close to 18k and still have a lil tread left with spirited driving no burnouts or stuff like that though. Probably get me through til about next spring or so. I'm still not sure what I'm gonna get when I need new ones, the stockers haven't been that bad for daily use and they seem okay to me in the rain.

My stock tires still look like new, oh wait, no wonder, I took them off at a 1000 miles! :D :D

Where I live I don't need an all season tire like you may in your area so I can't give you any suggestions for all-season tires, but a similar post to Ernad's is this link from Tire Rack comparing several Ultra High Performance All-Season Tires : http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surve...dth=245/&ratio=45&diameter=17&tireSearch=true

I have bought tires from Tire Rack also with no complaints and also from http://www.discounttiredirect.com . I like the fact when buying from Discount Tire Direct that I have 2 Dealers in my town that will cover any warranty work if need be as Tire Rack has no place in my town.

A note on Discount Tire too is if you go to a local Dealer with printouts of the tires you want with the pricing from Discount Tire Direct they always honor that price (in my town anyway) which is less than the local store advertised pricing.

I'm still using the stock Goodyears after 42,000 miles. Must be a rotation thing because I haven't heard of anyone else getting that kind of mileage from them. When it comes time to replace them i'll go to Discount Tire as hotrodnut mentioned.

I personally wouldn't want to put cheap rubber on my Mach, but if that's the route you want to go.... Falkens aren't bad at all for some cheaper tires. And definitely get them at Discount Tire. They should price match any place.

But as far as recommendations go, I'd definitely have to recommend Nitto Drag Radials for the rear and Nitto NT555's up front. That's what i've got on right now and the tread design just looks so damn badass :nice: Not to mention that with some DRs in the rear, there's very very few cars that will be able to beat you off the line
